Yes, yes, the rules say she has to fight. But she can fight to lose.

She grins.

"Make me."

Caprice throws the weight of her soul against Ishaza's in a blunt, no-nonsense contest of wills.

She pushes back precisely as much as the contract of the gods requires her to, and no more.

It's not actually an easy win. She is a fifth-circle wizard with her highest score as intelligence. Ishaza is a minor outsider, but she's almost entirely built towards passing opposed Charisma checks, and she is resisting.

It wouldn't mean anything if it wasn't a real contest.

Ishaza: (1d20 +4 (Cha) ) = 9

Caprice: (1d20 +2 (Cha) +6 (Deal) ) = 22

Ishaza is overmastered and brought to heel.

"Fine," she grits out. "I'll do it."

"Wonderful."

She feels the binding settle.

"Go teach."

She gets another chance to break free because that's such a loose command.

She deliberately fails her will save again.

"How's the binding? Not too restrictive, I hope."

It's relevant to her orders to answer this question. She's supposed to be teaching about bondage, after all.

"There's enough play in it that I can answer that question with some creative interpretation."

She can't straightforwardly say "well done", when she tries, but she's supposed to be teaching Sunaira's catechism so she can make statements about her opinions. "Sunaira would be proud."

"Are you comfortable?"

"Yes. That's very important to ask, you're doing well already."

"Have you done things like this before? Is this common for Sunaira?"

"Yes, I have. It's a kink thing. Sunaira loves willing restriction, so this kind of scene is common for her."

"Being resistricted in ways you want is a kink thing, then. And being hurt or hurting others in ways both parties like is a kink thing too. Are those fundamental somehow?"

"Do you still need me?"

"Only in the sense that I feel more comfortable with a fifth-circle wizard present."

"Sorry, but I'm leaving then. I'm on vacation."

"Thank you for your help."

"I hope it's worth it. Good luck!"

Kumi nods, then turns back to Ishaza as Caprice departs.

"So as I was saying...?"

"Yes, suffering pain and restriction in ways you enjoy are somewhat central to a certain conception of kink as an activity. Sunaira in particular enjoys them because they hook well into her domain of sacrifice."
