The kobold inclines her head, more submissively than agreeably, and looks to the Jedi to check for objections.

Satele nods.

The kobold takes a step back from the table and bows. "I'll wait for you in Milliways, then," she says, and teleports away without straightening.

"Not that it's stopped watching us, of course. But I do feel better for not having it in the room."

"As you like. Perhaps now you will elaborate further on your position?"

"I am not, in principle, opposed to ending this war. I am opposed to any solution to this conflict that significantly impacts my current freedom of activity."

"The Sith's 'freedom of activity' is one of the primary causes of this war."

"You are referring to the widespread and unchecked casual murder, slavery, and general culture of oppression?"

"Yes."

"Happily for you, I have no particular desire to engage in those activities."

"How would you define your freedom of activity, then?"

"What I want is to be left alone with my library and, as the occasion arises, add to it. If you Jedi do not make this difficult for me, I have no quarrel with you."

"I see. One issue we have with that is that much of the knowledge you have collected is... dangerous."

"I know that it is. That is why I have it, and other people do not."

"Some might question your suitability as a keeper."

"Why?"

"You have a history as a brutal and efficient asset of the Empire."

"That was before I inherited my library."

"And now you no longer care about the Empire?"

"I never did. I did what I had to in order to survive. My survival no longer requires that I take the field."

"That's all it ever was? Survival?"

"What do you want me to say, Jedi? That I regret my actions? That I feel guilt for the destruction I've caused, the lives I've ended? I do not. They mean nothing to me."

"If you are so callous, what trust can we put in you?"

"Trust that I would rather not taking the effort to cause trouble. If I am left alone, you will not hear from me. But know that if you attempt to interfere with my Archives or exile me to an empty universe, I will oppose you with all the strength at my disposal."
