"Guys I got Orca to let me borrow his sword. He says it's got magic that makes it good at killing monsters."

"That's cool. So, why did that guy have money inside him? And why didn't he leave a body?"

"...Because it's a goblin? Goblins and other monsters do that. They aren't born or anything, they're made from shadow and evil magic, they just appear some places."

"But why do they have money inside them? Do they eat it?"

"I think Sturgeon said they need things people could be evil over inside them to actually form? Money would count."

"I guess that makes sense. Kind of handy, isn't it?"

"Maybe. Let's keep going into the forest and find that girl who fell though."

They let her take the lead.

There are two more goblins. These ones don't have a shield.

She advances on them nervously, sword held steady.

The twins rush in front of her.

She - tries to help once they're engaged. Stabs Tabby's goblin in the side, which turns out to be the final blow. Zeke's goblin disappears nearly instantly, faced with three on one.

"These things aren't very strong."

"Goblins and chuchus are the most common and weakest monsters I think. Let's keep looking for her."

Shouldn't be much further.

"Yeah, but they're like paper or something."

"To the Hero's Sword, maybe they're paper. Didn't it take more beating up when you did it with your hands?"

"Yeah, but we're not as strong as we used to be."

"And I'm not as strong as either of you. Maybe one of you should try the sword."

Tabby takes the offered sword.

As soon as Gren is no longer touching it, it gets - heavier? Less magical? As if there was an eagerness to it that just went away.

"So?"

"I don't think it likes me."

"Huh. How about Zeke?"

She she hands it to her twin.

It likes Zeke a bit better. There's a hint of that - specialness there, now that they're looking for it. Not much compared to when Gren was holding it, though. "Huh. I wonder what makes it like people?"

He smirks. "Maybe it like niceness."
