To test the spells? Or poke the magic hornet nest? I think we should at least figure if it's in town and where.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, let's find the hornet nest.

And not poking it until we have a plan to actually rescue my dad.

Right. That. No poking until powerful.

How did your mom react to the news?

What news? End of the world?

Magic cards. End of the world. You met someone that has better claim to be the story's protagonist. All of the above.

She was—pretty miffed that it took this long for a clue to appear, really.

Where did you search for clues? I was trying to remember if I ever did magic while a kid and still young enough to think that it could work, but maybe I never said an incantation that was correct. Damn you, Potter, my father will hear about this!

She giggles out loud.

Libraries, mostly, and forums, and various esoteric groups.

Do you think you would've tried the book's scientific experiment if you had run into it? It is such a great way to suss out muggleborns that I want to investigate the author at some point.

What scientific experiment?

Temple describes the experiment. I think it is the perfect way to get the message out there, because of the perfect plausible deniability. I'm honestly unsure if it is more or less likely that the author is a sorcerer or not.

I probably would have, knowing that magic is really real. And I think we should look for the author.

Yes. We should. Aaaand I just realized that "Alex B. Wise" is a unisex name and I don't remember any picture of them.

Google?

He replies some time later.

Only references about them and their books. Wikipedia doesn't have an article about them, only about the book series. Found an interview to a magazine, but no photos that are officially the books' author (there is a model with the same name but he is too young).

What's the interview say?

That takes a bit longer to reply.

The author doesn't talk about themself at all, none of the interviewer questions are about their personal life either. Is this suspicious? They only talk about the books. I will send the link.

The link is sent in a second message. Questions 3, 8 and 9 are major spoilers and I don't think they have hidden messages or anything.

Then a third message: ALEX BE WISE?!

You're right, this is useless, and yes what about it?

Sounds like a pen name. And maybe it is a way of saying "you be careful" to whoever reads this and can do magic? Am I being paranoid or seeing patterns?

You are probably being paranoid and seeing patterns, yes.

:( Sigh. Why can't magical conspiracies be easy and straigthforward to unveil?

Because otherwise the show would end before episode three.

Right! We need multiple plot lines! So we can end each episode with a twist. I don't want to be in a show that ends their episodes with a silly joke.
