"Your father's clan found us! We have to run!" She says.

"My father's what?" Temple is shocked enough to be taken outside, but then he says, "No, wait. What?"

"I can explain it on the way."

"No, this isn't dad's. I mean. I don't think it is."

This gives her pause. "Then where is it from?"

Temple explains, his mother listens.

They both come back inside and Temple's mom approaches Kero. "Hello, I'm Patience. So, the world might end?"

"And my son is the only one that can stop it?"

"Yes."

"And this isn't some elaborate plot by Temple's father's clan to capture us?"

"Clow Reed wasn't part of any clan!"

"Not what I asked."

"Mom, hold on. You have to explain that one better."

She sighs. "Your dad was part of a Sorcerers' Clan, I actually didn't know much about it, he only told me the day he left. Apparently they don't marry outsiders and were furious that we got involved. They didn't knew about you yet, if they did they would use you for your magic. So me and your dad had to part ways."

"Oh my god."

"You've known about magic this entire time and you never told me!?!"

"Clow Reed's parents were also disowned from their clans, but they never tried to use his magic..."

"Clow Reed is the person that created the cards? And what do you mean by never?"

"Well they just didn't want to see Clow's parents ever again, or Clow himself. Even after he became the most powerful sorcerer in the world."

"Well, lucky him, Stephen's clan would drain out as much magic as they could from my son if they could get their hands on him."

"—I don't think sorcerers can do that?"

"Well, maybe by charging up a scroll until you run out of mana?"

"Are those kinds of things common?"

"Well, I wouldn't know." She looks at Kero. "I guess you wouldn't know if Stephen's clan would be able to find us now, would you?"

"What kinds of things? And not really, sorry."

"Sorcerer clans being terrible to people? Sounds like it could get horrible really fast."

"I... don't think I've ever heard of that? Clow was friends with lots of clans, they liked using the things he used to make."
