"Whooooaaa whoa hold it there tiny bear, contract?"

"Okay..." Temple doesn't ask again if selling his soul is involved in this...

"He will agree to find and capture the Cards, and in exchange they will share their power with him and their magic will be entwined."

"...Does this mean more magical power?"

"When you're using the Cards, yes."

"Uh, will I be able to use magic without them?"

"Yes, but it'll be more difficult."

"Aw, man. But like, will I be able to get to a normal power level eventually?"

"You'll be as powerful as you are, it'll just be easier to use Cards and harder to use other things."

"And the world will be in danger either way. Okay, what do I need to do?"

A little sphere of blue light appears inside the lock—

"Okay no this is definitely not enough information to sign some contract with a magical talking bear."

Temple scratches his head. "No?"

"No! First of all, is there any other way of capturing the Cards without becoming a cardcaptor?"

"...yes?"

"So it's on you to convince us this is the best choice by presenting us with as much information as you possibly can."

"Okay... uh, this is terribly inappropriate timing, but should I get you anything to drink or eat, Sadde?"

"Nah, I'm cool, I wanna drag information from this bear."

"I'm not a bear, I'm the guardian beast of the seal!"

"Okay, so how do we capture cards? Both with and without being a cardcaptor? Also, is it possible to stop being a cardcaptor?"

The light disappears from the lock. "The way to capture the Cards is by keeping them still long enough to command them to return to their Card form. The cardcaptor finds this easier and doesn't need other magic to do it, they can just use the cardcaptor staff. And you can't stop being a cardcaptor."

"Cardcaptor staff? Also, can people collaborate to capture a card?"

"Yes. The one who makes the Card reveal its true form will be the one the Card will go to."

"I meant, what is the cardcaptor staff and how does it work? Can cards be traded, given or stolen? I mean, in the sense that the person would be able to use them."

"The staff is the seal that binds the contract and turns you into a cardcaptor. You can give someone a Card, but if the Card is truly yours it can't be stolen, it will always return."
