"Okay," she grins. "There's a few other things I can do, but teleportation is most of it. But it's not just teleporting myself; I can make objects that teleport other people, too, including portals. And I can use my magic to find places, in some circumstances; I can't really aim, when I'm looking for a place I don't already know, but if I'm just looking for, say, an uninhabited planet with a comfortable atmosphere, that's not too hard. And that's what I'm planning on doing now: find a nice spot on some other planet that I can set up how I like it without bothering anyone, and then make a portal from here to there so you can come find me if you need me."

"That's so cool! Can I watch?"

"If by 'watch' you mean 'come with me', sure." She trances for a moment, and then offers her hand to the Jedi.

Ana takes it!

And here they are on a new world, just like that, with rocky scree underfoot and a scraggly pine forest starting a little ways off.

"Just like that, huh? I wonder where we are. Does it have a range limit?"

"When I'm teleporting to random universes it seems to be limited to ones where time works the same way as mine, otherwise no," the kobold grins. "But yeah, just like that, with enough practice."

She squints off toward the forest, and then trances again for a moment. "I'd like someplace with good forage, and I think I can do better than this; let's try again."

"Okay!" Hand!

This teleport lands them in a lush, forested valley. "Promising," comments the kobold, heading down to the center of the valley, scanning their surroundings for signs of animal life as she goes. When she discovers a large, pleasantly burbling stream, she stops to take a drink from it with a cupped hand, and then declares, "looks good to me."

"Cool. Um, how sure are you that this place is uninhabited?"

"Very? There's a second spell I can use to make sure, but I've never had the first one go wrong. Why?"

"It just occurred to me that this portal would be like a back door straight into the Academy and uh. If the Sith found out about it that might be bad."

She nods. "There's a few things I can do about that; the first and easiest is that the portal I'm going to make from the Academy here will be one-way. I'll certainly make a portal from this world to someplace else in addition to that, so nobody gets stranded, but it doesn't have to go back to Tython at all; I have a location-signature for Coruscant already, if that's safe enough, or we can figure something else out."

"Portals can be one-way? That's all right then. If you're pretty sure there's no one else here already, it's not too likely someone else will find this place. A portal to Coruscant should be safe enough."

"Good." She grins. "Okay, now for the heavy lifting... I'm going to take some of the stone under us and teleport it out to make a cave, unless we're lucky enough to have natural ones here." She heads back up away from the stream - "wet caves are kind of miserable to live in" - and picks a tree to sit under. The trance this time takes a few minutes.

Ana's never seen a cave being dug by magic before! Even if it doesn't actually look like much, she'll still watch.

It doesn't look like anything at all, but at least it doesn't take long.

The kobold opens her eyes when she's done trancing. "Still rough, but I can put the finishing touches in later. Hmm..." Another brief trance, and a round stone slab about four feet in diameter appears behind her and falls to the ground with a heavy whump. "At home I'd be a bit more secretive, but there's no reason not to have a visible entryway, here."

She goes and touches the slab, and then nods to Ana. "Just stand on it for a second to be teleported down; it'll only work for force users and spellbearers, I don't want wildlife getting in."

Sweet, magic teleporting pad! Ana's always wanted to one of these. For a value of always that means "since about six seconds ago". She goes and stands on the pad.

It's not as immediate as holding the kobold's hand, but it's just as quick after the advertised second.

The new cave's walls are made of matte, brownish rock, without the water-polishing of natural caves, and it's lit by a series of overhead portals that show the sky. Only part of the cave can be seen from the alcove that Ana finds herself in, but it seems to be vaguely oval or bean-shaped, mimicking a natural cave's curves. The floor is relatively flat, but not perfectly so, and is recessed a few inches from the stone she's standing on.

After a second, the kobold appears in the entry alcove as well.

"Will those skylights let rain and stuff in too?"

"Nope, they're one-way - I can only do two-way portals if I have something to cast on on each side. They'll let smoke out just fine once I have a fire pit in here, though."

"Cool. Your turn to play tour guide!"

She chuckles. "Well, there's not very much to it. But this area here," she steps out into the part of the cave that's visible from the alcove, "will be a workspace and maybe a classroom, depending on what we decide I'll be doing. Nice open area for teleporting things into, mostly, for right now; portal to Coruscant will go on that wall, probably. And then over here," she swings around to the other, more private section, "is basically my living area. Bedroll there, cookfire here, storage there, portals to keep the air in here fresh behind this thing," she gestures to a section of the wall with a pattern of holes in it approximating a grate, leading to darkness. "And the whole place will have a nice soft sand floor, as soon as I find some I like."

"Cozy. I like it. Are you going to finish it now or come back later?"

"I'll probably spend tomorrow doing the floor; I could maybe find the sand today and spread it out tomorrow, but if I get unlucky trying to find it I don't want to end up needing to sleep and maybe forgetting some good spots. Or if we're likely to be busy tomorrow, there's an alternate way I can do that."
