The twins fall upon two of the goblins.

Gren engages a third!

They are swiftly defeated.

The empty room and locked door after that reveal no secrets until Nemo carefully investigates various things for magic and eventually declares that the solution is to light all the torches.

Upon which a treasure chest shimmers into visibility, containing a key.

"This place continues to be weird."

"Old magic stuff is frequently weird."

He unlocks the door...

...This room is probably why it's called Dragon Roost Cavern. A huge, open space, lava at the bottom. Wooden and stone platforms around the edge. Doors leading off here and there, and more bridges and platforms higher up. No direct stairway.

"Wow, cool."

"Would Medli have gone this way?"

"She can fly, and the air is more still here, I bet she would have flown up to that ledge... Right there. It looks like the exit to me. We can't fly though."

"Me and Zeke might still be able to climb the walls."

"That seems risky, when we have a way to go that doesn't mean climbing vertical walls. Look." Indeed, the platform works around, with a couple of minor obstacles, to some more doors. "Probably there's a way up through there, we should at least look."

They agree to this.

The room has a lava pit, but a smaller one. No convenient statues, but a bunch of giant jugs that prove to be full of water. And a treasure chest off to the left.

"Ooh, treasure."

"Ignore the treasure. We have to go find Medli."

"Think the water would cool the lava?"

"Probably!"

She tries it, with a significant amount of effort. Result: Yes. For about twenty seconds at a time, anyway. 

...Nemo goes and gets the treasure on his own, earning a glare from Gren.

"You know, Medli could be being eaten or something while you look for treasure."

"Oooor I could find a map! Which will get us to her faster." He proudly displays the map.

"Or that, yes."

They progress through the cavern, spurred on to speed by Gren. Blow up some boulders, smash some barricades, fight goblins and chu-chus, all in good fun.

"How do the goblins even get in here?"

"Monsters're made of smoke and malice, they don't have to get anywhere, they just happen."

"But where do they get their clothes? Or shields?"

He wiggles his hands around. "Maaaaagiiiiic."

"This world makes no sense."

"And yet, here we are."

"Indeed."
