Tabby pulls Gren out of the way of claw.

It's slow enough that she would have managed to dodge anyway. A fast monster, this is not. "Tabby! We keep its attention, Zeke see if there's a weak spot on its back or something!"

Is there?

Not really, but Valoo's tail has stopped swinging around.

A lot of the rocks on the roof look pretty loose...

Hmm, he probably can't knock them down by bouncing off them, can he?

He can't even jump that high, not anymore. The ceiling is very high and vaulted, it's at least fifty feet up.

The grappling hook might reach.

He throws it.

It hooks Valoo's tail!

Does he swing on it?

"Zeeeeke did you find a weak spot!"

Not quite. He swings.

When he lets go on the other side, a full ring of stone comes loose from the ceiling and falls on the monster! Its armor is visibly cracked, glowing underneath, in many places.

Valoo is screaming and roaring again. And the monster's angry.

"...Does that have lava for blood?"

"I think so! But that seemed to hurt it so let's do it again!"

She lines up for a toss of the grappling hook...

"Fire!"

The monster continues to suffer. "One more time!"

This time Tabby aims.

The monster's armor falls to pieces. Gren dodges the falling bits.

It's not quite dead yet. But it tries to bash them some more, and now the sword can bite it.

Is it too hot for the twins to hit it?

Unless they have long sticks or something yes.

But it doesn't last long at this rate. With a dramatic dying roar it explodes into smoke and dust, leaving a small, heart-shaped crystal.

She sighs. "So what's that?"

"I don't know. Show it to Nemo? Then Red Lions?"

"This world is weird convenient."

"You keep saying things like that."

"Because it is! None of the things we killed back at home ever dropped money or necklaces."

"Well they weren't made of magic. Monsters work differently. If you kill a non-monster animal you'll just have blood and meat. Look at the fish you caught."
