"Well, we just got here..."

"Maybe I can help. I have many things and I know many people who have many things. It's probably easier to just ask me and I can go find it. Need a fishing rod? I know how to make those. Want joy pendants? I can find them. Pots? I'll carry one halfway across the island for ya. I even have some magic things..."

She grins. "Magic?"

"Yep! It's not big flashy magic - stuff like that is so rare these days - but magic it is! Fabric that will stay clean for everything but the harshest conditions. I have fishhooks enchanted to be nearly invisible in water. Everybody needs to eat and that makes it a lot easier. Bottles that hold a little more and weigh a little less than they ought to, doesn't that sound convenient?"

"Eh, me and my brother can take or leave clothes. And we catch fish with our hands and teeth."

"What about your friend? What's your names anyway?"

"Magic fishhooks could come in handy some time if they're not too pricey. I usually use a net though. Oh, I'm Gren."

"Our mum named me Ezekiel, but most people call me Zeke. My sister's called Tabby."

"I'm Nemo Eastwind. And I promise you my magic fishhooks will be worth the investment, if you decide you need them. How many extra fish do you think it takes to make up for what you pay now? Why, you can even use them as much as you want and then go and sell them again."

"Depends what kind of magic."

"It's nearly invisible when submerged in water. Use it with a thin enough line and fish can't tell it's there at all, they just see the bait. Dead useful, let me tell you. I don't fish much but when I do I get more than ten in an hour." That's probably helped because he knows where a nice reef is, and that makes for great fishing, but they don't need to know that.

"And this is better than just getting the fish yourself?"

"...Most people can't get fish without a net, or a hook and pole, or a spear. You two can?"

"Yup! It's so much fun!"

"How would you like to earn money for having fun, then?"

"Depends on the money."

"Fish is good stuff. I would still have to find someone to buy it, and clean it, and make sure none of the fish are sick or bad in some way... But if you'd dive for the kind of fish that don't live right on the surface I could definitely get you three rupees per pound of fish. And bonuses if you get any particularly big ones."

Tabitha clears her throat. "I'm the one doing the negotiating here, brother. Yes, we agree to your terms."

"Great! Let me show you what kinds of fish I mean on the three rupees deal. Some fish are better than others."

He produces an entirely handwritten book in some sort of cipher. There are some illustrations. "This kind, this kand, that kind, or that kind. Oh, and shark teeth are good too if you find any."

"Sure. Where do we start?"

"North of here. Just past the point where the sea suddenly gets deeper should be good."

"We're also looking for a sail."

"Interesting request! I can ask around but don't know how much it'll probably cost you yet."

"You said you go fishing sometimes."
