They seem a bit taken aback, heads lifting and bright blue eyes fixing on her, but not upset. :Welcome: one of them sends eventually. :You are the stranger from another world, no?:

:One of them. You might see my droid around sometime, too.:

:I think I have โ€“ the silver lady?: the other mare sends. :Her mind is...odd. I wouldn't be able to speak to her even if I wished to: She glances almost conspiratorially at her comrade. :We don't usually speak to anyone except our Heralds. But that's not a hard rule or anything. My name is Floria, by the way:

:It's good to meet you. I'm Deskyl.:

:And I'm Ellara: the other mare jumps in. They both wait, looking at her expectantly.

:I didn't really come over for anything in particular, I'm still getting a feel for how things work around here. Although - I am going to start working on recreating some of the things we invented in my world here; is there anything you could use?:

The two of them blink at her for a while.

Floria scuffs her hoof in the grass. :Could you make some sort of contraption for holding a book and turning the pages, maybe with a pull-strap like the stall doors in our stables have? I like reading and I can't always borrow my Chosen's eyes:

:Maybe lights for the stables?: Ellara jumps in.

:Absolutely. Do you want to be able to write, too? I'm going to be working on a machine for that, eventually, I can think about how to make it hoof-operated or something.:

:Oh! That would be amazing: Floria sends. :We have very good memories but it's not perfect, you know?:

Ellara prances a bit on the spot. :Could you make a device for opening big doors? We use pull-straps we can grab in our teeth for our stalls but it doesn't work so well if the door is heavy:

:Definitely. The first thing I'll be working on is something to lift heavy loads, for building, and it's the same principles, I can do them at the same time.:

:Oh! That's clever. How does that kind of thing work?:

She explains pulleys and how they can be used to turn a weaker longer rope-pull motion into a shorter stronger one.

:Incredible!:

The two Companions look at each other. :Is there anything else we can help you with?: Floria sends eventually.

:There is something I'm going to want to ask about eventually, I think, but I'm not sure I know what questions I should be asking yet. I have different magic than the people here do, and... it's complicated, but... there's a chance I can de-age people, as a side effect of some other magic of mine. I won't know until I try it. And the idea of de-aging the queen came up, and I'm trying to figure out if that's a good idea, and how much politics I'll get stuck in if I do it - it looks like a good idea so far but I'm less sure about the politics.:

The two of them go very still.

:I am not sure: Floria sends finally. :I think you ought to speak to Taver. The Groveborn, Lancir's Companion. He understands things better than us:

:Sure. Is he around, could you introduce me?:

:Just a moment, we can check: Floria pauses for thirty seconds. :He's busy right now but could speak with you in half a candlemark, if that works?:

:Yeah, that's fine. I'll go get my droid, I think I'll want her for this.: She does that, and comes back half a candlemark later with her.

Ellara has wandered off, but Floria is there, with a new Companion. He's a stallion, several hands taller than the others, and somehow...brighter. (To her Force-senses, the difference will be fairly obvious. He's just more magical than the other Companions.)

She and DZ arrange themselves so they can see each other sign, and Deskyl does so as she talks to the Companions. :Hello. I'm Deskyl, and this is DZ. DZ, these are... remind me of your names?:

:Floria. And this is Taver, the Monarch's Own Companion:

:Thank you. Did Floria tell you why I wanted to talk to you?:

:The summary she gave me is that - you have a type of magic, I assume healing magic, that might reverse age and result in longer lifespan, and you wish to know if it is wise to offer this to our Queen?: Taver's mindvoice is very neutral and his emotions are...hard to read. It's difficult to tell what he thinks of the matter.

:Basically, yes. I believe I like her policies well enough, but I'm not sure what other effects it would have - if it means some disgruntled heir is going to hunt me down in thirty years, I'd rather know that beforehand.:

:That seems very unlikely. For one, any potential heir would have a Companion, who would not approve of that behaviour. Also, I expect Elspeth would abdicate before twenty years was passed, were she still alive. She has ruled for a long time and is not actually interested in holding the position forever:

Thoughtful pause. :In fact, it might make the transition more orderly if it were planned in such a way. She might soothe the Council's feelings about it โ€“ she is very skilled at that:
