"Oh good," they say. "I am Wanderer - the Spear of the Wanderer. I come from another world, too, though not so far away as yours, I think."

Then, remembering the conversation they had overheard, they add, "My City moves. We have been trapped here because I can't hold up the war wards and raise the city at the same time, by myself. I don't have the attention. With a wielder I could focus on one, and they the other."

(Jaim and Ilek, though surprised by the voice, have settled back from the pedestal to listen, allowing Zephyrinus and Wanderer to get acquainted.)

"Oh. It flies? And do you want to move it to a particular location?" Pause. "Also, anything that I can do for your general comfort?"

A giggle, "They used to call this the City of Clouds," they say, "We can go anywhere the sky or sea touches - we only need to stop at a wellspring every so often, to refill the reservoirs."

"But I do want to leave," they add, "Once the City is returned to the sky. I've been trapped here for hundreds of years - I want to be anywhere else." They pause, "Will you bond with me?"

"I will bond with you. And I will help you live and see the world. If it ever becomes possible to travel back to my world. I will take you there. I don't want you to get stuck here a moment longer."

They reach out, grasping onto his mana with their own. A rush of adoration-affection-happiness follows the feel of the bond clicking into place, for his words. Wanderer loves easily and without reserve, and the promise to see them free is more than enough to prompt it.

Through the bond he should be able to feel the reservoir of power within the Spear - deep wells of Water and Air - and through it, the bond with the City.

The detail he gets is not nearly so much as Wanderer does, but he should be able to feel in some detail any large movements which stir air or water. He cannot sense the breath of his two companions, but he can feel it when Ilek makes his way to the window to look out, if he pays attention to the sense.

Also, he can feel the veins within the City, if he focuses. Winding through every part of it like a great circulatory system, leaving from and returning to the reservoirs deep beneath the tower, in the lowest levels of the vaults. He can't do anything with them yet, not knowing how, but he can tell they are there.

Zephyrinus takes all in and returns some of the sentiment in return. "You remind me of one of my brothers." He tells the Wanderer.

He does focus on his new perception, absolutely fascinated by all his new sensory capabilities.

Pleased-friendly-curious, they send. "I'm sure I'll like them," they say. They like most people, and the people their wielders love more than most.

He can feel where both of his companions are, and the monsters sleeping in the vaults, and the movement of the plants in the overgrown parks. The flow of mana to the wards, and to a chamber within the vaults where the Rod is, holding the City just a bit out of phase with the world.

"Are you able to communicate with the other artifacts? Or tame the monsters?"

"Not really," they say. "I just had to hope the Rod understood why I was sending him power, when we fell - and he did, luckily. The monsters I herded into the stasis rooms a few decades in. It was hard, but it was something to do - and I didn't want anyone who found the City to be scared away by them."

"Oh, good. We can get to the Rod and other artifacts soon enough, is there anything else pressing to do?"

Jaim is still standing near the pedestal, though looking away to give them some privacy - bonding isn't a private thing, exactly, but it is personal, and even if he can hear the two speaking, he doesn't want to intrude.

Still, "Should we raise the City now?" He asks. "Since we can't remove you from it before we do."

"Yes," they say, "It shouldn't be too hard to learn how to keep the wards up, so long as I just hand them over already set," they tell Zephyrinus, "There will be a lot to juggle, but I think you should be able to get it in a few hours?"

"I am good at mentally juggling a lot of things. I might want to change into my Aestes form and tell my brothers that I will be busy. And Jaim and Ilek will want to report our findings, and I don't know if they can come and go while I am learning the wards."

Wanderer believes him - even if it didn't come easily they think he woukd get it more quickly than most.

"Aestes form?" They ask, sending interest-curious-shiny!

"They can leave while we work on it," they add, "I'll just have to take them back while they do, to make sure it's safe."

"We should report back," he agrees, reluctant. He would much rather take a look around the city than return to the fort.

"We do know when the reinforcements will get here," Ilek reminds him, "A few more hours probably won't hurt."

He would also much rather take a look around. Aside from some minor excursions into the Guardian's City, he's never seen one of the ancient mana ruins - even if the city isn't really what he'd call a ruin.

"I have multiple forms. This is Hibera, cold themed and blue. I also have Aestes, which is fire-themed and has red-orange hair. Adamastes, which is metal-themed and silver-haired. And, last but not least, Ventari, which is wind-themed and has wings. Natural ones, these are artificial."

To Ilek and Jaim. "We could at least do a perimeter sweep and collect information for whatever reinforcements they will need to send soon?"

"Shapeshifting!" They say, sending excitement-curious, "Go ahead - just leave me in the pedestal, it gives me better control."

"Good point - better to have a more complete report once we get back."

"Alright. Will be back soon." And places the spear back in its resting place.

The bond is still there when they aren't touching - more distant, and he can't feel Wanderer's mana or extra senses, but they can still communicate empathically.

"I can speak into most parts of the city from here," Wanderer says, "And hear, too. Let me know if you want a door opened!"

"We'll be sure to do so," Jaim replies.

"Are you going to come with us, or stay to work on controlling the City?" Jaim asks Zephyrinus.

"I will come. And do want to get a sense of the city myself. Or, well, a personal sense."

"Alright."

He nods in the Spear's direction, "Please let us know if we are wandering somewhere dangerous?" He asks Wanderer.
