It's so weird how water can be... easily convenient, here. Not that Zephyrinus is complaining. How private is the balcony? In terms of who can see him? He wants to take off from the balcony and circle around the area before returning. "Oh, question: Do you mind nudity?"

"Nope! I can't see it, for one thing," they laugh.

The balcony is on a different side of the tower from the one attached to the main room. He could possibly be seen out of the windows in the other suites on this floor, but of course no one is in them. A small ward shimmers over the balcony, as well.

What have I done to deserve this? Jaim wonders, despairing, abruptly turning away so he's not looking at Zephyrinus.

Nomad sends gleeful amusement at him. He makes a face at the wall.

Chuckle. "I guess, I felt like asking anyway, apparently is not polite here. Actually, I am not entirely sure how unusual it is. Maybe I can get away with it now. Jaim? What do you think?"

He waves a hand, "Go ahead," he sighs, "I will just..." suffer, apparently. He wanders out onto the balcony and leans up against the railing, looking down at the city below. He peers down at the runes on the railing once he notices them, recognizing scripts for privacy and repelling - they'll keep out anyone unauthorized, and anyone looking at the balcony from the outside will be unable to see anything through the shimmering of the ward. Useful.

"I think they must have had an easy flight spell, here," he comments whenever Zephyrinus joins him. "Or else some common enchanted object."

Zephyrinus approaches after a minute. "Nothing that would interfere with taking off from the balcony, right?" He also leans against the railing.

He glances at him from the corner of his eye, then away again.

"The ward? It shouldn't. I think anyone could take off from here - they'd just need Wanderer's permission to land."

"Oh, neat. Are you okay? Am I making you uncomfortable or something?"

He glances up at him, avoiding looking below the upper chest. "The taboo makes nudity - intimate," he tries to explain.

"Ah, okay. I like you alright and you're helpful and everything, but the nudity just means I want to be comfortable."

He nods, "I had gathered. I don't mind that much - and it wouldn't be good of me to try to push you to follow Cialin norms. Here, especially," he adds, "Given the city partly belongs to you, now. I will get used to it," he hopes.

"I hope so. It isn't your society's worst hang up, but it's sure a weird one."

He nods, turning his eyes away. He's still a little red - and exasperated at himself about it, on some level. A few years ago he would have... well, still been embarrassed. He used to find being embarrassed fun, however.

...Maybe he should just. Relax a little, if he can. There's no one here to see him acting a little odd, compared to the usual, who will care. Even if Ilek will end up squinting at him more.

He glances around for Ilek at the reminder, finding him just in sight in the hall outside the master bedroom's sitting room/office, listening to something Wanderer is saying - though he can't quite make out what.

Glad that he's occupied, Jaim turns back to Zephyrinus, shifting the wings on his back, "I think I'll join you in looking around from above, if you don't mind."

"I don't mind." He uses a bit of ice to retrieve his clothes, but instead of putting them on just ties with an ice "knot" to his back. "Do you think Ilek will want to come along?"

He looks back towards the hallway again. Whatever they're talking about must be very interesting, judging by his expression.

"I think he's quite occupied," he says. "I'm sure he'll follow if he decides he wants to."

He straightens from his lean against the railing, stretching his wings out all the way, "Shall we?"

Zephyrinus smiles and - with some ice assistance - leaps from the balcony.

Jaim pulls himself up onto the railing and tips over with a growing grin, freefalling for a long moment before letting his wings catch the air.

The City is enormous. It could certainly hold a million residents easily enough, and half again that with only a little crowding. A small, self-contained, mobile country. Most of the buildings are towers of varying height, from the thirty story apartments to the tall, thin three story homes. Wider ten story cylinders with thin spires rising high above them dot the City here and there, connecting the highest level of the skyway to the ground, and to spires rising from some of the sprawling estates off the plazas. Once they get low enough to see them, they'll be able to see how lower pathways connect all the other buildings, their supports elegant curves attached to the surrounding structures. It looks something like a complex web, from above, spun out by some sort of stone-spider.

The light of the wards shines through the pathways and buildings from above and around, leaving only a few rare places on the ground in shadow. It is bright, out here, and the air seems to taste of magic, a slight heaviness which tingles on the tongue. The greenery in the parks leaves it smelling of living things, and the sound of the water in the canals can be made out over the almost unnatural hush of a city nearly empty of people.

Zephyrinus is gleeful. He makes complicated circuits around the buildings, sometimes landing apparently at random to take a closer look at the buildings before quickly taking flight. If the canals are clean he will fly above one, running his hand through the water. He savors the magic.

So many people can live here. He and his brothers can set up his own, sensible laws. If they can bring people they can house people from his world who wants to live here. Just so many that can be done with this city.

(Aaa he's cute.)

Jaim follows from higher up, circling the tops of the towers and trying to peer in through the windows - a futile endeavor, as most are very reflective even without the light of the wards turning them more so.

Eventually he flies up high, to look over the city from up near the wards. It's a little warm, this close to them, but he doesn't mind.

flying city. The things they could do with this. The things they could have done with this. To think they've been sitting right on top of it for ages, and never noticed it was here.

A thought strikes him. Perhaps it was a good thing they didn't. He doesn't want to think about what the king would have done with this City under his command. In Zephyrinus' hands, it never will be.

"Hey, Wanderer, do you know any bath-houses around with big pools? Ideally one that I could heat up the water?"

"Sure!" Wanderer's voice says, sounding as though they're right next to him. "There's one just over by that plaza with the nearest skyway tower to you," they add, "Inside the big building across from the estate there. They're cool now, but I can heat one up for you!"

"Thank you!" To Jaim he says. "Do you want to take a warm dip? I just realized that I could do it in all my forms."

"...Alright," he agrees, "In all your forms?" He asks, "Does your fire form - Aestes? Was it? - need the water to be warm? Or did you mean something else?"

"The Aestes form doesn't need it. I just think it would be comfortable. And forms feel different enough that I think it will be interesting to try in distinct shapes."
