"How much of a bad idea is to use brute force on this?"

He peers at the runes some more, running a hand down one line in particular, "I think... we may wish to stand at the other end of the room, in case of any backlash, but I don't see any traps here, either."

"Fair, I can raise a ice wall in case you think it will help."

He nods, "It certainly couldn't hurt," he agrees.

Back to the area around the barrier for Jaim and Ilek.

Zephyrinus raises a wall around them. Pure ice, not very conductive and very compact. Then he brutes forces the other door open.

It's very sticky, but he can eventually get the two halves to slide into the walls, leaving the way open.

On the other side of this door is a large room with no other exits. The walls are covered with square sections of lightly shimmering runes, going almost from floor to ceiling, bracketed at the edges by spiral designs. There's an adamantium panel on the wall next to the door, dotted with a number of raised circles, like buttons.

"Do you know what that is?"

He smiles, "A lift," he says, stepping close to it, "This must be the top of a tower after all," he adds.

"Shall we see if it works?" He extends a thread towards the panel.

"What else are we here for?" Ilek asks, stepping into the room.

Zephyrinus follows, he has taken the ice from the previous barrier and created an armor around himself.

Once everyone is inside, Jaim taps the second circle from the top.

The room starts to shake, and then slowly begins to descend. The doorway is covered by the outer walls of the shaft for a time, and then it reaches another set of doors much like the ones upstairs.

"Ilek, could you-"

Ilek reaches out to touch the doors with a thread of Fire mana, quickly altering it to lightning once it's touching.

The doors slide open without protest.

On the other side is an enourmous dark space, lit only by the lightly glowing runes distantly visible on the walls, and the light coming from the lift. The sound of gently gently lapping water echoes all around them, and the trickle of running water is audible as well, coming from the edges of the room.

The light of the lift reveals a long, wide pathway in front of them. On either side of it are huge pools of water, stretching out as far as they can see. The air is thick with humidity, but there's no scent of decay or plantlife. It smells clean, like fresh water.

"Are ruins usually that well... preserved?"

"Not all of them," he says, "But this one is at least partly active, still - the lift even worked. That is very unusual."

He steps out onto the pathway, squinting out into the darkness.

"Anything interesting?"

"Just- water. As far as I can see. Which, granted, is not very far. Perhaps there is something at the end of this path, however?"

Shrug. "Lets investigate then?"

"There could be something lurking in here," Ilek points out. "Doesn't smell like any kind of monster has been living in this room, but there might be something living further in. We should probably be careful."

Jaim nods, patting the Bow on his back, "I think we can handle any guardian beasts they might have left in here, between us," he comments.

"I will try to freeze it first so you can attack it. If it turns out to be cold resistant it might be a good idea for me to put distance between it and myself and change shape."

He nods, glancing at Ilek, "I would expect any beast in a ruin so filled with water as this to be water- and cold-resistant," he says, "But likely also to have water-related abilities."

Nod. "I will take my Aestes shape if necessary."

"Alright," he smiles, "Then let us explore," he glances up - the ceiling is very high, the lift shaft behind them reaching up to disappear into the gloom some few dozen meters up.

"We could fly," he suggests, extending his wings out hopefully.

Snort. "We could! But if it somethings comes up, it might be better not to fight something airborne."
