Blink. "Nothing new? I am just thinking about solutions to our problem. One way to treat the water to make it drinkable is basically infusing it with our kind of magic. I was wondering that could help, but it sounds like the sort of thing that could go extremely wrong and I am trying to devise a test that isn't too dangerous."

"It could go very wrong if the disease treats your magic as it does mana," he agrees.

"I would suggest trying someone without it, beforehand, at least. And perhaps testing on some objects, to ensure it isn't immediately disastrous for some reason."

"Oh, true. It's also important to be sure you can acquire shapes - there is a test."

"One you can do now?" He asks, "-Can some of your people not acquire shapes?"

"There is a kind of infusion that does minor healing, and also happens to only works on people that can acquire shapes. And probably not in the way you're thinking. That have ever been cases of people using powers that changed them enough to not have the ability."

"Ah," he says, nodding in response to the latter answer.

He hums, "I still have that bruise, if you want to try? If you can do that in this shape," he adds.

"It's in my Adamastes shape - metal-haired one. It's not very good healing, and I not very good at it, or I would've offered. But I can make it not-harmful."

He nods, that does explain why he didn't offer - not that Jaim would have expected anyone in his position to do so, but.

"Should we return to the tent, then, so you can change?"

"Of course. And to make more wings."

Yes, more wings.

Back to the tent. Jaim unbuttons his shirt to get a look at the bruise while he waits. It's not that bad - it isn't effecting his movement much, the twinges have been ignorable - but it looks pretty lurid.

And a few minutes he returns. "We are going to need to wrap the wings, so I don't touch them by accident. Some are too small to function, but I did that on purpose." He says, carrying the wings with some difficulty. Then he sets them aside and takes a closer look at the bruise.

"I can request some sheets from the laundry," Jaim tells him.

The bruise stretches all the way from his right hip to the middle of his ribcage, extending onto his back. It looks like the sort of thing that might result if he'd landed badly on a hard surface from a height. Or if someone had thrown a small boulder at him.

"I don't know if it will give any meaningful help, but I doubt I can make it worse." He puts his hand over the edge of the bruise. "This is gonna sting."

And it sparks with silver light, and the sting is odd, not quite electrical, there is something to it that almost has a taste and solidly, but ones hard to define. "Okay. Your species is compatible."

He tenses a bit at the touch, though he was expecting it.

The sting is an odd sensation. It's not bad, anyway.

He nods, "Alright, that is good news. Hopefully it will be the same for others from this world," he says.

He leans in to look down at the bruise - is there any change?

The border between bruise and non-bruise looks... smudged? A middle term between the two tones. "I am really not a good healer. Not without the proper power."

He glances up, smiling slightly, and shrugs, "It's fine - it is better than it was."

After a moment, he looks back down, "Thank you," he adds, realising he hadn't done so, "For the flight."

"You're welcome. Thank you for the place to stay and food to eat."

He huffs a laugh, "I'm sure you would have managed without us. And shelter and food should be given if possible, anyway. But you're welcome," he adds.

The two things aren't really proportional - he could have found food and shelter himself, whereas while Jaim can fly for perhaps fifteen minutes a day, he would be draining all of his Air mana to do so. The wings offer something wonderful which he couldn't have gained without Zephyrinus' help.

"Still, it's serves to be grateful all the same."

He smiles down at his hands, "And it serves to remind you that you're welcome, as well," he responds.

Jaim asks a messenger to find Zephyrinus some sheets, to wrap the variously-sized wings in. After eating, he turns in early, intending to get some longer combination of sleep and meditation so as to recover his pool faster. Hopefully if he does this right he should be back to about half-strength by morning.

Zephyrinus takes the rest of the night to search for teleportation or translation powers. Or at least "go to underwater ruins" powers.

Ilek wanders in sometime late into the night, crawling into bed with Jaim again. Jaim finally falls asleep at that point, having been meditating until then.

And in the morning, they can go back out to the lake to take a look at those ruins.

Jaim leaves to speak with his lieutenant briefly, and returns with news.

"It seems reinforcements will likely be arriving late this evening," he tells Zephyrinus and Ilek. "Istaim told me to leave any preparations my people will need up to them, but we will need to return by mid-afternoon."

He looks to Ilek, "You are coming along, aren't you?"

"Yeah," Ilek shrugs, "There's not much for me to do to help around here."

He looks over at Zephyrinus, "Would you be willing to lend Ilek and I wings? That lake is quite a ways away on horseback."
