"Lots of power related things seem to count as magic, that's one of them, so does all the super-engineering swag."

"If we had an army I could just have them read through all the planet's written works that mentions powers or origins or anything but we don't have an army, and it might be that nothing's been written that's accurate."

"Hmm. Area around the source of power?"

"Might not be useless, is it planet-sized? Star system?"

"Hard to tell how big it is when I don't want to specify a scaling, get it wrong, and break Milliways..." He makes a small scale galaxy in glass and glitter. "...that looks Milky-Way-ish..." Solar system. "...could be an alternate universe Sol system..."

"So which of the bajillion rocks in the solar system is that one, is the question. Well, it's round, so that puts a lower bound on the mass..."

"It's very round, I don't think it's an asteroid."

"Probably a dwarf planet."

"Could be artificial, can you try to bring up 'artificial planetoids in the system' -"

She tries.

"Nothing doing."

"Is it inhabited?"

She tries conjuring models of people who live there.

"Nope."

"It's dead, there's not even like a light dusting of chlorophyll, I wasn't trying to leave the plants off. No oceans either."

"Hmm. Maybe if we figure out which dwarf planet it is we could figure something out from their astronomical records or something."

"Whose astronomical records?"

"NASA? The IAU?"

"I'm not sure this world will actually have those, what with the monsters punishing attempts to get into space..." Squint. "This Jupiter-looking-thing is missing its red spot, I'm not so sure this is maybe a Solar system any more."

"Hmm. Okay. Well, 'Melkor's summoner' was a thing I could do, maybe if a cape caused the Endbringers I could make a model of them..."

"Tenuous. I checked once when I was doing Revelation infosec and you can make models of active summoners, but not past ones. But if they're being actively sustained it might work..."

She tries it.
