Two birds, one stone. Perhaps.

"I'll see what I can do about that."

"I think that's all the business we had here, isn't it Kali."

"Of course," she purrs, as a motorcycle pulls up.

"Ms. Yanna. Ms. Morrell."

"Kali, we're leaving. Peacefully."

"Good luck," she says to Pascale, and they walk away.

"So long," she says to the departures.

"Hello Scott."

"Was that one of the alphas? Are you alright? We couldn't save tonight's victim, did Ellayania tell you it's the teacher? Are you okay?"

"Yes to all of the above. The Darach is here because of the alphas, she used to be that one's emissary."

"What's an emissary again?"

"A druid who works as part of a werewolf pack."

"So who's our emissary?"

"You're still part of Derek's pack, and I don't have one."

"Sure, okay. Does that help us, or is it just trivia? I hate trivia."

"If the problem of the Darach and the problem of the alpha pack are related, then we might be able to solve both at once if we go about it the right way."

"You think we can use it? It seems like all the bad guys knowing each other should hurt us."

"No, she's right. It would be better if the alpha hadn't been here, I could go to the alpha pack and she could go to the darach...I could still go, but now one of them saw us together."

"The darach wants to kill the alpha pack. Our first priority is obviously to get it to stop killing bystanders, but we might be able to use it to drive the alphas off."

"They haven't killed many bystanders yet, but I don't think I want to be here if they stay. If we can convince the darach to stop, maybe even work with us, then we'll be safe from the pack. And if she stops the sacrifices, she's not a threat, she's a possible ally."

"Right. It depends on how reasonable the darach will be. I'll see what I can do about talking to her tomorrow."

"Be careful tonight. There are things lurking in the woods."

And the boys ride home.

Pascale is in her goddess's domain. She's perfectly safe.

Ellayania sends the pigeon back to check on Ms. Blake's apartment.

Ms. Blake looks somewhat terrified.

She decides to sleep anyway.

As long as she doesn't go out and try to murder someone else tonight, that's the important thing.
