But alas, eventually they must go their separate ways.

"See you tomorrow!"

"See you!"

And she heads home. She gets permission from her mom - she does not mention it's a date, just implies it's a friendship thing - then goes to bed, still grinning.

Kaylee's parents are on board as well.  She can't stop grinning all evening.

She lets Kaylee know that her mom approved, then spends the rest of the week with a bounce in her step. She rather shyly holds Kaylee's hands during gym class; their classmates have yet to say anything, though one or two have been whispering. 

Friday, she asks, "So, how're we doing this? Take the bus to your house?"

"Sure, that works for me!"

"Great!" 

And the end of school rolls around. Lianne texts her sister that she's taking the bus to Kaylee's, then gets off at her stop. 

"So - you wanna just hang out here until our date?"

A little involuntary grin flickers across her face when she says the words "our date."

"Works for me. ...Do your parents know that we're going on a date? Like, can I talk about it in front of them?"

"Yeah, it's fine.  - did you have to keep it secret from your parents?"

"From my mom and sister, yeah."

“Jeez, that’s gotta be tough.”  She squeezes her hand.  “...Is it - because I’m a girl, or - ?”

"That - it's hardly respectable - " she spits - "And she's, just, in general picky about who I date? And doesn't think I should be dating at all, really, especially with my grades..."

"God, that sounds awful, I can't even imagine... do you want a hug?"

Nod.

Hug.

"Sorry I can't do - more than this," she says.  "If you ever want to - hang out here, get your mom off your back, let me know."

"Thanks. And she isn't on my back much at all - I just know how she'd react."

"No problem."  She gestures toward the house.  "Shall we go inside?"

Slight smile. "Sure."

Inside.

"Hi Dad!" Kaylee calls as they enter.

He emerges from the upstairs a moment later.  "Hey kiddo.  And Lianne!  Nice to see you again."  Wave.

"Good to see you too! Thanks for having me over."

"Any time!  I know you're saving room for your dinner date, but feel free to help yourselves to anything in the fridge."

Lianne blushes at 'dinner date', but just says, "Thanks!" and goes to get herself a soda.

"I'll leave you two alone," he says, grinning, and retreats upstairs.

Kaylee sits down on the couch and motions for Lianne to join her.

Blush!

She sits next to Kaylee, grinning despite her embarrassment. 

Aww.  Kaylee puts an arm around her.
