'The sparring was really fun.  I might like to just - do that again sometime.  With you.  Like, for fun.'

'Yeah! That'd be great.'

She smiles.

"So, how is everything?"  'On the non-magical-girl front, I mean.'  "Your mom's not riding you too hard, is she?"

"Eh, I've been getting my homework done pretty promptly, so she's calming down a bit. Still being fairly restrictive, though."

On impulse, she puts an arm around Lianne's shoulder and squeezes a little.  "Sounds rough.  Maybe not as bad as it could be, but."

Lianne leans in a bit. "Yeah."

Kaylee sort of rubs her shoulder.  Is that a thing?  For someone so bubbly she's not always the best at physical affection.  Lianne seems happy, though.

Lianne is in fact perfectly fine with this! 

"Thanks," she says after a bit.

"Any time," she says.  "Well, any time I'm sitting right next to you, I guess."

Giggle. 

Kaylee giggles too.

She'll happily keep sort-of-quasi-cuddling Lianne until the bus arrives.

Lianne doesn't have any objections to sort-of-cuddling.

When they get to school, Lianne waves bye and shouts, "See you in Bio!" over the students' racket. 

"See you later!"

They won't get much time to chat in Bio, but eventually lunch rolls around. 

'So,' Lianne says once they're not busy with other stuff, 'I was thinking we should plan, like, patrols and stuff. To keep an eye out for witches around our area. I've been dowsing on our runs and sometimes in class, but it doesn't feel - thorough enough.'

'That makes sense.  Do you know how to determine if a witch is weak enough for us to take down on our own?'

'We could ask Kyubey?'

'That could work.  Right now, you think, or after school?'

'I more meant when we find the witch - he said he can tell - but you're right, we could also ask him how to tell. Maybe ask during gym? So we're not having to try and talk to him and people at the same time.'

'Yeah, that's a good call.  So, patrols - how often were you thinking?'

'I don't know. Beyond what I'm already doing - once a week? I feel like this would be easier if either of us could drive, but we can take the bus around and then walk a bit.'

'If we transform we could probably get around town faster - but, hmm, I don't know how fast that would use up magic...'

'The long-jump thing felt like - middling magic use. Fairly low, all things considered, so probably a decent way to get about. Proper flying is apparently expensive, though. But there's a few shopping centers and the area around the main mall we can check, the higher density of people during the day might draw witches.'

'Yeah.  And if we patrol enough we might find places they congregate.'

'Good point!' 

'Thanks!  So, once a week, focused on the shopping centers, at least to start.  The scouting group is on Saturdays... would Fridays work for you?'
