She's laughing, now.  It's not quite like her usual laugh.

Mallory and Sophie have been wearing down the witch pretty successfully.  It tosses one of its canes at them.

Just like the tents and the clowns, it balloons in size as it approaches them, until it's the size of a torpedo when it hits.  The wooden bleachers beneath them crumble as it crashes into them.

Lianne, Sophie, and Mallory all jump clear, though they wind up in different areas. Sophie and Lianne immediately move to fall back to Mallory's position, going ahead and taking down any familiars that get in their way.

Kaylee lands on the opposite side of a newly-formed chasm from the others.  She sprints for it, jumps, springs off of the enormous cane lodged in the ruins, and tumbles to a stop on the other end.

"How are we doing?" she mutters to Lianne, even as she calls up more throwing knives.

"Well, I think. It looks - ragged."

"Not sure how much damage I can do with these..."

She does a sort of pirouette, releasing her daggers mid-spin to send them shooting toward the witch.  It reels back a bit when its hit.  She chuckles.

She calls up more knives and turns her attention back to the familiars.

"Having fun?" Lianne asks, focusing entirely on the familiars. (She doesn't trust their distance enough to throw her sword, and she isn't that good at lengthening it yet).

"You were right, this is exhilarating."

"I'd say more satisfying than exhilarating - and this is a pretty easy witch, compared to the last one - but, yeah. Still, let's focus on the fight."

Familiars keep coming, and Kaylee keeps splitting them open in various creative ways.  Tigers give way to elephants, big enough to crush them underfoot.

Lianne does well against larger targets - more surface area to hit - and starts trying to take out multiple targets with each swing, dodging when she has to.

Kaylee's worse here - more mass means more daggers to take it down.  She springs backward a few times, trying to stay distant.

The witch's incoherent shouts sound less confident, more frantic and desperate.

Lianne starts keeping an eye on Kaylee as well, ready to intervene if something gets past her daggers. Experimentally, she also starts using ribbons - focusing briefly to give them a cutting edge - to attack more distant familiars.

Kaylee calls up a storm of ribbons to wrap around an elephant's leg, then, on a whim, tries to conjure three daggers between her fingers, like claws.

She succeeds, and does another pirouette to cast them toward the elephant she entangled.

"If you've got these handled for a bit, I can switch to helping take down the witch," Lianne says between familiars.

"Works for me."

Lianne spins away from the familiars and, on something of a whim, tries to make her sword sharper, then throws it at the witch, followed by swirls of shining ribbon.

The sword sticks in the witch's chest, but it manages to bat the ribbons aside with one of its three remaining canes.

It pulls the sword out of its chest and throws it back toward Lianne.  By the time it gets there it's much bigger than it was when she threw it - the size of a canoe.

Crap.

It's her sword it should be vanishing right about now. (She jumps to the side and draws another sword, concentrating on imagining the flying sword disappearing and reappearing in her hand.)

She manages to disappear it, but not until it's already crashed into the bleachers.

Lianne, Sophie, and Mallory all jump clear again, this time taking more care about where they land. Sophie manages to land near Mallory, but Lianne ended up on the other side of the crash and has to jump over.

Kaylee springs out of the way and skids across the bleachers on the balls of her feet, landing next to Sophie and Mallory.

"You okay?" she asks, when Lianne rejoins them.

"Yeah. Just annoyed at myself that I didn't vanish the sword quickly enough."

The witch starts reeling up to throw another cane, but this time they can see it coming -

They dodge, this time making a point of actually keeping together.

Now the whole witch is rushing toward them, screeching and howling.  The calliope music swells and distorts to something harsh, dissonant, like a scream.
