He is never quite... satisfied about his work, but a second opinion from someone who does music would help.

"I am not sure what they said, but, as far we can tell, that's the problem. There is probably a secret to actually using them, but as it is, something or other is causing them to be aggressive."

"Huh. What do they do, if they get out of the forest?"

"I can listen, sure. After we finish eating?"

"That would be great."

"They continue the trend of attacking anything on sight."

"Oh," he looks away. "I'm... not much of a fighter. I get by, but," he shrugs. "Alex might be interested, though."

He looks over at the larger group, attention drawn by the mention of his name.

"Hm?"

"Monster fighting," Jamie clarifies for him.

"Oh." He thinks for a long moment, "If it needs doing, I wouldn't mind it, yeah."

"Oh, great! I wanted some of our lost relatives to get into that, so I can go all military sergeant on them."

"It's not, like, a cool anime fight. Honestly, most of the time it's just waiting around."

Eyebrow raise. "I suppose so long as you don't come at my hair with intent I can deal with some monster fighter boot camp. Don't expect me to stand around motionless while you scream insults at me, though."

"Wasn't expecting it to be," he tells Adam. "Fights usually aren't a lot like what much fiction would have you believe."

"I promise I won't touch your hairlocks."

He ruffles Alex's hair, "Wouldn't want to wreck any of his many gorgeous features," he says, stepping out of the way of the retaliating smack.

"Of course not. We don't actually have military training, but we do have training and sparring. I take James is not in condition to consider self-defense lessons?"

"Maybe not?" He shrugs, looking down. "But I already know how to get away from fights at least, and avoid hits. I guess it might be different with the monsters, though."

"I meant human-on-human defense lessons. I like to teach them just on principle that everyone should know."

"Oh," he nods. "Knowing how to defend myself better wouldn't hurt? But, yeah, it should probably wait."

"What do you teach, usually? I wouldn't say no to actual training in hand-to-hand, either, most of what I know was pulled from books and online and put into practice... more or less successfully."

"I know some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which I have fondness of, but I mostly learned because there was a instructor in town when I was little. I mostly know and practice the Elsewhere equivalent of Mixed Martial Arts."

"Sounds good?" He shrugs, "It's been a few years since I did any research on specific schools. I was mostly just looking for a few edges, here and there, anyway. Doesn't take that much to put down a few drunk idiots or teenaged assholes."

"Fair, fair. They are sure a let down after you fought things that are two store tall."

"Two stories? I didn't really get a good look at those pictures." He frowns, "How isolated is this place, anyway? If no one's noticed them escaping the woods, if they do."

"Size varies, but they do tend to be bigger than a horse, at least."

"It's off the way. At least twenty minutes from other living souls."
