Aaron is already mid-bite but protests by baping his hand on Morgan's face.

"Huh, I thought there was something weird about that pool. I guess it didn't smell like chlorine..."

"Do you all live here, normally?" Alex asks, looking around at all the Graywards in the room. It's a big house but, as he'd noted to Temple last night, this is a lot of personality in one room.

"We do, yeah. Why?"

"Mn, just... wondering how you deal with so many people living in each others' space." Jay and him do that, but there's only two of them, and they rarely fight.

"Years of practice."

"And a lot of trial and error."

"You guys make it sound like we are borderline war zone or something. Like, okay, I am probably the most combative person here, but I manage to deal. Most of the time."

"What do you all do around here, usually? I mean I guess you're probably in school," he waves at Adam, "But the rest of you?"

"We all are doing a mix of long distance magical college courses and getting personal tutors on the same. Adam too, but less so given the aforementioned school. I take care of the house so people here have more options than starvation and PB&Js. My focus is more medical in magic terms."

"Well, now I want some peanut butter. And what he said. I am basically learning how to be a magical bodyguard from Sawney. Learning how to fight magically and casting wards. It suits our needs." He goes to the fridge.

"Sawney used to be a bodyguard, now he is... some sort of guard. I guess. Defending against monsters and stuff. But now he is honing his artistic hobbies too. We all train how to fight but only the two of them have it as a thing." Franklyn explains. "I take care of animals around here. Have a shelter for them nearby."

"Which was great. Uh. I like music, robots, video games and stuff." He says feeling lame. "Topher likes art too but he is more into history and is the only one of us learning anything about dad's job."

Lots of stuff he wants to ask about there, but first- "I guess you'd need some people in the family to kill them when they come out... What are the monsters like?"

Alex keeps an ear on that conversation, but he actually addresses Adam, himself, "What kind of music?"

"Mostly, I like instrumental and classic stuff," he then continues with a more elaborate explanation. His favorite instrument is the piano, but he tries nearly anything he can get his hand on.

"Mostly like... giant animals with different animal parts mashed together?"

"Here, I have pictures."

He shows them pictures on his phone. An eyeless deer-sort of thing with antlers that have what appear to be butterfly wings stuck on them. Something that looks like two crabs atop of each other and merged somewhat, there are glowing cracks in the shell. A bear with a bat-like face, the picture is high contrast and appears to have been taken with night-vision. The head of a reptilian like creature with a very long tongue.

Hm, he listens to some of that, though most of what he actually writes these days has lyrics. He hasn't had the chance to spend much time on a piano in the past few years, but he played more regularly when he was still in school. A few other instruments, too - violin, a bit, and upright bass, and harp, along with guitar, of course, and a few more. He's out of practice with most of them, though.

He leans in to look.

"Wow, they look like creatures out of a horror story." His eyes linger the deer in particular. Creeeepy. "Are they magic? Like, beyond just the fact that they exist."

Adam sometimes tries to compose music, but he is never sure of what he does. He has most of those instruments here, if Alex wants to practice again.

Some of them are kinda of ugly cute, in Franklyn's opinion, but yeah. Very horror story stuff.

"They are very magic. Made of it, and their bodies vanish after a few hours post-killing. Their original purpose was to serve as guardians."

He'd love a chance to practice again, yeah. Any specific problems with the composing? He's not entirely sure how to help with that, he never actually took a class on it or anything, but he can try.

"So what about not having enough people tied in sends them out of control?" He wonders. "I guess you probably don't know? Based on what Temple and Felix said."
