"...that's a non-sequitur..."

"I want you to use your fortune to buy whatever politicians there are to make gay marriage legal in Korea, I cannot handle this."

"...hyung????"

"Oh my God you drama queen. You better invite us."

"Obviously."

"I'll see what I can do."

"You hear that, baby? Our wedding was so awesome it inspired law changes in Korea."

"I'm the best at wedding planning."

Giggle. "Is that how they judge weddings? How many laws get changed in honor of it? Congratulations on your victory."

(Ow. Ow. Ow. Why does this topic hurt so fucking much.)

"Anyway if everyone will excuse us Hye-jin and me gotta go catch up over there away from all of you."

? bwuh?

"I'll miss you."

"Well you put a ring on it so you got a lifetime of me to look forward to." Tiptoes kiss and then dragging Hye-jin off.

Okay, this is happening now?????? She will go along with this??????? She's kind of terrified she's about to get yelled at about the foot chopping incident, and that would be terrible, because Hye-jin is absolutely certain that she will burst into tears the minute she's pressed on that subject.

And once away from prying ears: "So, where did you get this dress, it must be some kind of trade secret because I've seen the dresses you wear and I can't find them anywhere."

!! Oh. Oh, that's a much safer topic. Okay, yes she can do dress talk, that is safely listed in the Hye-jin guidebook of How To Not Cry.

"Oh! I actually still have a designer from my days at White Star, do you want the agency's number? They generally love designing stuff for combat espers, and I had, uh, unique textile needs. The pretty dresses are so they can use me as advertisement. Though, they are Japanese, so..."

"I've got nothing against Japan, I wasn't born yet when they did a colonialism. I confess I had been hoping for a more exciting secret, though, maybe a secret lair of dressmaking monks passing down an ancient oral tradition..."

"I just meant that they'd mostly be speaking Japanese, which might be a problem. They might be an abbey of dressmaking monks, though, I didn't exactly ask, you know? Your dreams could still become reality!"

"If they do have a secret monastery I'm enlisting you to come with me to raid it for its secrets."

Giggle. "I think I can just give you a recommendation and - actually that would make a good wedding present, I can just put a deposit down for you to have them make what you like, can't I..." Commscreen!!! She has things to throw money at that sound like fun. Yes, yes, she does the charity stuff as well, obviously, but she does just keep fun money around, too, and this would be very fun!

"Wh- Hye-jin! You really don't have to!" she says, like someone who would nevertheless really appreciate it.

"I know!" says Hye-jin brightly. "But it'll be fuuuuun~"

"Goodness, I—well. Thank you." She's maybe a bit easier to make tear up today than most days.

Hye-jin beams. Inflicting happy emotions in people she likes is nice, and now she feels like she actually deserves to be invited to this wedding!

"You're welcome!"
