"Hey, what's up?"

"Not much!" he responds. Then pauses.

"Hey, weird question… Your town doesn't happen to have a history of brutal murders, does it?"

"That's a pretty weird question. Yeah, we've had a bunch of serial killers in the past year, why?"

Pause. "That's a pretty weird answer."

"It's a pretty weird town. I had some friends who moved away to get away from all the weird things that keep happening." 

"And I only just moved here. Well, bodes… something, for me."

"Your first mistake was picking a small town, when we have L.A. right next door." 

"My dad wanted a change," says Tyler. "Or something."

"Or something. We should probably focus on the lab."

"… Sure."

Tyler continues to be good at Chemistry.

Isaac continues to be less good.

Then they have lunch. 

Where Tyler can try to find the group involving Lydia and co!

Lydia is sitting with her usual friends.

"Tyler, glad you could join us."

He smiles. "So – hope I'm not interrupting anything – but I was in Chemistry and I asked Isaac a weird question and he told me there had been serial murders." Brief pause. "Was wondering if I could get clarification on that."

"Well, there was the arsonist, but she did all that like six years ago. He was probably talking about that psycho who held up the police station." 

"It's not that bad, Isaac is just morbid." 

"One arsonist, one police station hold up, and… is that it?"

"He might have been talking about the animal attacks. I'm not really sure." 

"– Have there been many of those, then?"

"There were some mountain lion attacks last year, but it's not really common." 

"So he was being, what, facetious when he said there'd been loads of serial killers the past year?"

"I don't really know Isaac." 

"He's a good guy, but he doesn't take anything seriously."

"… Okay, well, I'll take casually-told stories about high murder rates a bit less seriously in the future, noted."
