"Well, you have a spot on the team. Go ahead, take a break. We practice same time every week." 

"Thanks."

Unless he'd like to socialize with his teammates, that seems to be that. 

He'll socialize for a bit! Probably nothing much interesting will be spoken about.

There are a lot of whispered conversations that end when he approaches. 

A really excessive number.

People are quite happy to talk to him, though. 

With practice over, people begin going home. 

Tyler does not look at all suspicious, but when Scott gets up, Tyler goes to follow him and asks, "Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay. Just got some bad news recently, there's a lot of stuff to do. Running should be a good way to decompress. See you tomorrow, Tyler." 

"See ya."

Which leaves Tyler free to go home, if he likes.

He does in fact go home, and then he's at school the next day.

Is there an ominous hushed conversation, because for some reason, he seems to expect there will be one.

Ominous and hushed is one way to describe this conversation. 

Gosh! Can he get near it while appearing to remain mostly oblivious?

Of course he can, unless they're very suspicious.

They're speaking quietly enough that the average person would have trouble hearing a thing.

Luckily, none of them are average. 

"He doesn't seem that impressive. Deucalion could be wrong about him, and we don't want to get the wrong guy." 

"We've done this before, we can do it again. He's never been this excited about it, but it's the same old story. Once we take down the alpha, things go back to normal. I don't want to spend a minute more in this town than I have to." 

"Even though that girl came on to you as soon as we walked in? Usually you stick around for that." 

"She's friends with him. We'll have fun right up until I do something unforgivable, which is the best time to leave." 

"We've never killed anyone our age before. He's new to being a werewolf, too. It feels different." 

"After everything Deucalion did for us? We owe him at least one free pass." 

Their conversation is interrupted. 

Lydia kisses her new mark.

Lydia talks aimlessly. The freshman flirts back. 

His brother excuses himself.
