If the currently on-duty Security personnel cannot handle a fairy, then the incipient appearance of a fairy will likely prompt a shift change. Neither person-creation nor summoning are forbidden.

"Well that's inconvenient."

"You said Security doesn't cover upstairs and outside, right?"

"Yes, but if it's the incipient arrival of a fairy that prompts the shift change then that might still do it - even seriously considering it might do it, might already have done it..."

"We would've noticed someone going in. ...Unless they can teleport, in which case we'd notice Rosalie going out."

"Okay. But we might need to expect that she'll leave before we've got a fairy. At a minimum we should save it for when we're entirely ready to go on everything we might want to do, research-wise..."

Edie picks up a handful of documents and starts helping with that.

At one point Cam gets up to go ask Rosalie a question.

He then comes out and says, "Security has a back door and the sorcerer guy is back."

"...oh, for fuck's sake - we should have told her to come say hi on her way out, in case we could send some people with... was it that we were considering summoning a fairy, do you think, or -

- well, eventually we're going to have targeted dimension teleportation -

- this bar is definitely fucking with us on purpose -"

"Let us not impugn Bar, Bar has been nothing but helpful, the door is fucking with us - Bar, what does one call 'whoever controls the door' -"

"The landlords", typically.

"Can it be communicated to the landlords that we're sorry if we're not using their interdimensional transit system for its intended purpose, and that we'd appreciate more guidance about what that intended purpose is and how to not be fucked with quite so much, and also that we'll bring them lots of presents once we rule the multiverse?"

I do not have a direct line of communication to the landlords except insofar as they may be suspected of monitoring things said to me due to my ability to e.g. accept applications to work Security and thereafter I take no active role in scheduling.

"Okay.

Well. Guess we can go back to killing time - unless we want to try to drive the Security guy out -"

"Do we want to find out what other avenues of fucking with us the landlords have that badly?"

"There's a level on which this whole thing started because the unbound daeva who ruled my planet tried giving my family orders."

"...yes, but if there is, say, an eviction mechanism..."

"Landlords go on the list after the Valar," Edie mutters.
