"...They also worship Jesus where I was born."

"If the place you were is just pulling in dead people from all over the universe like Pharasma's Court does, it would be very strange for two randomly selected dead people to both be familiar with Jesus."

Nod.

"I don't suppose you both offended someone in life who was plausibly a powerful wizard or fairy or such."

"It wouldn't surprise me if I had offended absolutely everyone who ever heard of me."

Slightly disgusted glance at Marie.

"Not that I remember?"

"You're being very cooperative and I continue being not at all angry with either of you. I am asking these questions because I cannot pursue other sources of information more quickly than I am already doing, not because they are at this point critical. Can either of you draw, paint, or otherwise create depictions of scenes from memory?"

"I could try."

"Maybe. What scenes?"

"Portions of the place Zoriana took you from that she hasn't seen, portraits of any people there you remember, anywhere you remember from your life. …actually, we want a baseline also. Anyone you remember from your life, even if they'd be dead right now, especially if they weren't very perceptive or thoughtful or wise. None of this is immediately critical, if you'd rather have some coconuts or sleep or paint some birds I will let you know when I need you."

Yeah, she's completely uninterested in rest if she could do anything at all to help destroy Purgatory.

She's an okay artist and can eventually produce some very stylized pictures of people she knew at home and a huge theater she had to clean in Purgatory and places she used to be familiar with on Earth.

Marie can try to draw but would like to know if descriptions would be as useful as pictures.

(Zoriana volunteers her notebook and charcoal.)

"Descriptions of places are almost as useful as pictures of places but descriptions of people aren't magically useful. Unless you have anything belonging to them, which I wouldn't expect."

Marie laughs bitterly.

"There's a library with dancing lights and so much ink. They'll make you wish you'd never been born if you spill the ink, and there are boxes of new books and boxes of books you've already copied, and tables in the middle of the room. Or, there were. I have no idea if that place still exists."

That sounds Infernal, except for how this place is so lacking in the Archstar. "What scripts?"

Marie can demonstrate! Marie has neat handwriting in multiple languages, some of which she cannot read or even pronounce!

And yet none of them are Chelish Taldane. Curious.

"I am personally curious what this means but do not anticipate it being strategically relevant. This is further evidence that you weren't in Hell, though, they also make dead people copy books but their most common scripts to assign don't appear in your samples."

"I guess not being officially evil is nice."

"Sometimes paladins go to Hell and a lot of people who do terrible things and never regret it don't go. Even ignoring options to cling to the Material there's two other places Pharasma tends to send evil people. I was commenting on the Hell situation because Hell is vast and powerful and successfully acting there requires extreme power or caution."

"Okay."

"You also don't detect as evil, but people who couldn't trivially beat me in a fight tend to not be detectable, unless they're personally empowered by evil sources. It doesn't really matter much."

"What?"

"People who did terrible things tend to end up evil-aligned, and terrible things are bad and Pharasma sends evil people to bad places, but I think that what someone is going to do is more important than what they have done." Ey sighs.

"If you talk to enough evil mortals their stories are mostly sad. They didn't feel in control of their life so they hit the people they could control. Everyone told them the neighbors were evil and they enlisted and never really thought about what they were doing. They added colorful poisons to food because they thought color would help it sell a bit better."

"And it's – I'm not Calistrian, you know? I don't really believe in vengeance. Maybe you don't want to trust someone like that with a child or a pike or a bakery but if it's been decades sometimes you can. And hurting them wouldn't fix anything. Certainly nobody should be helpless in the places Pharasma sends evildoers, they try their best to make people worse."
