The next day, as with every day, students must attend homeroom.
"...sometime, yeah. I'd rather not think about you and them at the same time, but maybe I'll feel different when I'm more used to this."
He stands up rather abruptly, running his hands through his hair.
....
"Or I could just continue my life never knowing them and hating their very existence. That works too."
"They're not bad people. I don't really want to talk about this right now, I have to play lacrosse in an hour."
Kiss!
That doesn't seem to have changed, and improves his mood considerably.
It's still time to go, regardless. They arrive at Matt's house, he collects his things, and with little interaction with his parents to boot.
And off to school, they go. She heads to her locker first to grab her camera and possibly her backpack?
When she makes it out to the field, there are a few other people in the stands, and tryouts have just started.
Juliet will walk to the bottom of the stands and start taking some pictures.
She'll have a chance to get some great shots of everyone's tryout, then.
Tweedle Dum from the comic book shop goes early, and she can get a great shot of him hitting himself in the shoulder with his lacrosse stick, sending the ball in the wrong direction. He's placed on the bench for the remainder.
Jackson is much more successful. He successfully defends the goal and scores in it.
He also retires to the bench, but after being officially accepted onto the team.
Tweedle Dee manages to score on one of his attempts, but is otherwise as disappointing as Tweedle Dum. He takes a pause while he's defending the goal to use his inhaler, which doesn't help matters.
Bench for him, as well.
(Brian appears on the field after he's finished, having a whispered conversation with Coach Finstock.)
He scores half the time, and defends much more effectively. He's in!
Bench for him, as well.
Matt acquits himself well, performing just above average in every possible way.
He winks at Juliet before he starts, and waves as he goes to join the others on the bench.
...she takes a few pictures of Stiles looking like an idiot. For Reasons. And a couple of Jackson being his Best Self.
But otherwise, she spends the rest of the time taking pictures of Matt. And then she turns the camera around and takes pictures of the spectators on the stands.
Lydia gives a little wave, but otherwise she's watching Jackson, and Brian.
Her cheers for Brian are lukewarm, but they're still present.
Lydia is a good subject, she takes her time with her. But she also takes a few of the lonesome man, just for posterity.
