The next day, as with every day, students must attend homeroom.
"...Scott. Scott, she only liked that one movie, with the dancing."
He pats him on the shoulder, which is a bit of a challenge given his own stack of books.
"Let's just let them buy their comic books, yeah?"
Matt mouths a "thank you" to Scott, and buys their books.
"It was nice seeing you guys."
"I didn't say it was a good movie. But. It was nice meeting you! We'll see you at school."
"I am pretty hungry. I haven't eaten for a... while. And that was like, a rabbit, I'm pretty sure." She makes a grossed out face.
"I think a burger would do. I'm not really one for live prey when I'm bipedal."
"That's kind of interesting. It doesn't transfer over?"
They walk. Presumably Matt has some idea where they're going.
"Kind of? I mean, usually on a day like today; right before the full moon, I usually go for a rare sort of steak- or any sort of meat, really. And- I have so much energy. If somebody, or an animal, made me angry or something? I, I don't know, I might do- something."
She hmms.
"That's what it's usually like, anyway. I feel different today. More human. So, burger and maybe a milkshake would do really nicely."
"Happy to help."
They arrive a local diner soon enough. They've managed to miss most of the breakfast rush, but there are a few stragglers.
They can sit at the counter, a table, or a booth. Matt looks to Juliet.
"It's definitely...serviceable. I'm not usually big on the greasier stuff, but the food isn't terrible."
"What's your usual meal of choice? I was raised on Italian food, for obvious reasons."
“I don’t know. I’ll eat anything, I just like to skip heart-attack-on-a-plate.”
There are a few familiar faces at the diner. Erica is there, seated with what must be her parents and brother.
"It's a small town, you're going to see people you recognize. We can if you want."
She hums in agreement. "I suppose I can't avoid her forever. We can just say hi. I'd really rather it just be us for today."
