"I was hoping we could just- talk. Like normal people."

"That was a pretty dumb thing to think, wasn't it?"

"Guess I put too much stock in friendship."

"How about we start with food. We'll get some and I'll cover all of it. Yours included."

"I like her. Have I mentioned that I like her?"

"At least we still have something in common."

Matt seems quite content to continue the handholding, unless Juliet objects.

No objection here. She summons the waiter and they order.

"I'm very likable. Nobody can resist my charms." Beat. "Unless you're Danny, I suppose. But that's probably a fluke."

Food ensues.

"Danny? Are we talking about the same Danny? He gets along with everyone."

"Mmm. Not me, apparently. At first, I thought it was just that he was into Matt. But then he just kept staring at me and making weird faces."

"You could probably fix it if ever starts to bother you. He really doesn't have problems with most people."

"Who cares about Danny. Tell me about Juliet."

"A topic I approve of! Yes, let's talk about me. Do you have any former knowledge already?"

"I've heard a couple of things. Pretend I haven't, let's see where that gets us."

"Now that I'd like to hear. What are the people saying about me?"

"You're a mysterious firecracker wrapped in an enigma, and you know it."

She looks at Matt. "Am I really that obvious?"

"A little bit, yeah. Isaac, what have you been up to?"

"Stuff," he says, waving his fork vaguely.

"You?"

"Less comics, more photography."

Nod.

"Do you have plans for Halloween? Josh Diaz and I are planning a party."

"I'm pretty sure I'm not invited."

"It's a Diaz party, everyone's invited."

"Caught me. Maybe I'll go now."

"It's a Salvatore/Diaz party. So this is me officially inviting you. You'll be my honored guest. Bask."
