"Good morning!  Yeah, that sounds good."

Then off they can go! Lianne skips her morning run - she'll get plenty of exercise later - and sets off for the same breakfast place, unless Kaylee feels like trying somewhere else.

Same place is fine.  Breakfast: acquired!

Om nom nom.

Afterwards, Lianne leads the way to the music museum. It's mostly geared towards kids of various ages, but it's still lots of fun for teens. There's plenty of interactive, hands-on exhibits, and a bunch about the history and science of music.

Kaylee enjoys herself, it is clear, especially the sciencey exhibits; standing waves are great fun.  As is wandering around looking at cool things with Lianne.

Lianne really likes seeing how much Kaylee enjoys the museum, just about as much as she enjoys the exhibits themselves.

Afterwards, she sighs and telepaths, 'So to hunting?'

'Yeah, we should.'

Museum is exited, soul gems are prepared for dowsing.

After a bit of searching, they encounter a string of suspiciously similar playground-witches.

"They don't usually - come in herds, do they?  Do you think this is somebody's - farm?"

"I haven't seen herds before. Maybe, though what kind of asshole would intentionally let witches grow... Maybe this area just doesn't have many girls?"

Before Kaylee can reply, something shoots downward through the air - bounces off the wall behind them, whizzes between them, and - explodes, throwing them backward into the wall.

Lianne immediately switches into her costume, jumping to her feet and drawing her sword. She looks around for the attacker, while calling, "Kaylee! You okay?"

"Yeah, just winded - what happened - "

A magical girl adorned in gunmetal and forest green alights on the ground in front of them.  She's holding a grenade in each hand.

"Ha!"  She's smirking.  "Incredible trick shot, right?"  She flicks the pins out of her grenades with her thumbs and lobs one toward each of them.

Kaylee dives out of the way.

Lianne dodges too, then shouts, "What the hell, why are you attacking? If you don't want us here, say so!" She keeps her sword at the ready, though.

"New at this, huh?" she says.  "You're in my territory."  She calls up a couple more grenades and pitches them both toward Lianne.

Kaylee powerjumps toward Lianne, aiming to intercept the grenades, and manages to backhand them out of the air.  She lands and skids on the balls of her feet, panting a little.

"Well, guess what, not like we saw any no trespassing signs! Stop attacking and we'll leave!"

"Did you start doing this yesterday?  If you're in someone else's territory you don't negotiate, you fucking run."

She tosses four grenades into the air in a cluster, then pirouettes in place and manages to hit all four with a roundhouse kick as they come back down; they splay out and sail through the air toward Lianne and Kaylee.

"I would if you'd stop it with the bombs," Lianne growls, changing her sword's size so she can swat the grenades away, roughly towards the girl. "I'm not running because I can't know if you'll shoot me in the back!"

She snaps her fingers, and all four grenades explode before they can get close to her.

"That," she says, "is not my problem."  She whips her hand through the air as though she's throwing something, but Lianne can't tell what it is until a moment later, when her chest is peppered with needles - grenade pins.

Luckily Lianne heals pretty fast, and the front of her costume is thick enough that the needles barely penetrate. "We're leaving, asshole," she calls, concentrating and summoning a barrier of swords around the enemy girl; golden light arcs between them. They should be proof against an explosion several times the magnitude of what she's seen so far. She then jumps to the roof, thinks better of it, and raises to hover in the air. Proper flying's expensive, but she has a high capacity and more grief seeds than she knows what to do with, and this way she can run backwards. "C'mon, Kaylee, let's get going."

"Nope," she says, "too late."  She conjures another grenade, this one suspended in midair, and it goes off a second later, sending out a flash of green light instead of an ordinary explosion; the arcs of light between Lianne's weapons vanish.  "You had your chance to run.  Now I think I'm going to take you down and take all your grief seeds."

She lobs a couple of black balls their way, which explode into netting halfway through their arc.

Kaylee manages to conjure a pair of Bowie knives and shred her netting before it entangles her.

The swords themselves are tougher than that, and will at least restrict her movement. Luanne conjures a spiral of ribbon lashing out from each handle, aiming to bind the girl.

Lianne flies back a bit then lands back on the roof - no sense in wasting magic - and increases the number of swords in the barrier, adding thinner swords to fill in the gaps.

She manages to evade the bindings just long enough to slip a grenade just outside the barrier, where it explodes and pulverizes the concrete that the swords are embedded in.  She kicks the swords aside, leaps away from the barrier and the ribbons, and ricochets off of the alleyway's wall, soaring up through the air toward Lianne.

Kaylee shifts her Bowie knives into throwing knives and whips them both toward grenade-girl as she's flying toward Lianne; one embeds itself in her side, and she growls and shoots off-course, landing on the roof next to Lianne.
