"We're not as familiar with your magic, so maybe a visual indication when it switches states, and then otherwise the same."

Nod. "Sure. And I can customize it for each person, anyway."

"What else?"

"Traps, obviously. Portable ones, the design I know is a circle of heavy cloth or leather that can be rolled up but we can come up with something different if that's not good here. Projectiles, maybe; I'll have to look at how those are designed here." Sketch, sketch. "Something to teleport civilians? That gets into strategy questions, but I could do it."

"How do the traps work, exactly?"

"Well, hopefully I'll turn out to be able to recognize Sith by sight, which means I can incorporate that into the traps, otherwise they'll probably look for all Force users and you'll have to be careful around them - I can add a trigger to suppress the trap effect if the trap is nudged the right way with the Force; they'll probably figure that out eventually and then we'll have to switch to something else, but it'll help. And an on-off trigger set, of course, for portable ones - I am thinking I might just entrap places directly sometimes, especially if I can just target Sith." She pauses to consider. "...I need to find out what people who are Force-sensitive but not trained look like to my magic." She notes this down with a sketch.

"Can you change where they're set to send people?"

"Sort of? I can't change a spell once it's cast, but I can set it up with some kind of deactivation password and put a different set of spells on the same object, or add spells without deactivating the original one if they don't conflict."

"Could you set the trap to have its destination at something movable, like another piece of cloth?"

"Mostly not. I have figured out a trick for the kind of spaceships you have here, but it isn't very useful, and aside from that, no."

"We'll just have to be careful about wherever we decide to have the traps send people to, then."

The kobold nods. "I think what I'm going to do, once I've found a planet I like in an empty world - actually, I should check if one planet will even be enough, if you have half a billion of them with people - but, anyway, once we've worked it out to that level of detail, go put together a place that's enspelled to give arriving Sith a chance to get their bearings before they have to deal with anyone else on the world. I can probably add a way to safely allow communication between there and here, in case someone gets sent by accident - I can definitely enspell someone to be able to go retrieve people; I might be able to come up with a safe enough way to allow someone to be teleported back without someone going to get them, but I'd want to be very careful about that."

"Force sensitivity is really rare, there aren't that many of us. One good-sized planet will probably be enough. I don't think you should put in a way to get back without being retrieved. If there's a hole in the system, a Sith would definitely find it."

Nod. "That might be the first priority, then, finding a good planet so we can get started setting that up."

"More scouting, then?"

Nod. "We need to narrow down the conditions first, though. I'm familiar enough with humans that I can make sure we don't go anyplace dangerous to you, but there's other species to worry about here."

"Not for the Sith. They're kind of really really racist. They think nonhumans are inferior and don't even bother training any people that are too far away from human baseline."

"Well, that makes things easier, then. It'd still be better to make sure it isn't too lethal to anyone who might accidentally trigger a trap, though."

"A good rule of thumb is that human-safe is safe for the majority of species. There's exceptions, like methane-breathers, but they generally have their own solutions to being in human-safe environments already."

Nod. "Okay. I don't actually have a way to target uninhabited universes, so this is going to be a two step process; the first one is to find an uninhabited planet in a random world, and then the second is to look for the densest group of people in the world, which will hopefully be us. So don't get too excited if we find someplace nice - though I can make note of it to go back later if you want."

Ana nods solemnly. "I will attempt to restrain my excitement to appropriate levels."

"All right." She puts her sketchbook away and takes a moment to look over at the fruit tray and see what's been taken from it. "Sounds like we're ready, then." Hand!

The fruit tray has been completely emptied.

Hand!

It takes the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon - and shows them a wide range of different types of people; most of the crowds are mostly or entirely human, but some are much more exotic than that and at least one is made up entirely of androids - but they find a suitable planet without any mishap worse than Ana's danger-sense going off.

The first world they find in an uninhabited universe is dry; not a desert planet, but too arid for forests, and mostly rocky. A second attempt within the same universe finds a much wetter world, tending toward swampy but with plenty of more solid regions.

"I'll want to talk to Bar and make sure there's enough safe things here to eat, but I think this will do," declares the kobold.

"Yeah. We can set up some basic infrastructure, food and clean water and shelter and so forth if you make a big enough portal to get here. Might want to do that from Coruscant, though. Easier to get the stuff from there."
