"I was trying to figure out which version of a movie to watch. I also don't know if it's a good choice of movie, it was just the first thing presented."

"Sure, let's take a look."

Zane stays on the board, and with Kyeo walking he's apparently willing to float a lot closer than when Kyeo was flying.  He goes right up to the edge of the cottage, too, before hopping off and landing neatly with the board under his arm.

Data about personal space norms, Kyeo supposes? Anyway, here is the menu of options for Beauty and the Beast.

"I started out picking Earth 1 for a while, and that's basically a fine option, I think.  Though it turns out it's - a little weird."

"How so?"

"It seems more - adversarial, than the rest.  Movies from it tend to have more disguises, and schemes, and... the kids movies and comedies are more careful not to have background destruction and death but the intense fare has more of it."

"...is that the culture we're supposed to acclimate to?"

"Maybe one of them.  But there are a lot of other Earths on offer, and I haven't found anything credited to that one from later than the 2020s.  So I think not entirely."

"Huh. How did they choose the numbers, do you know?"

"I don't."

"Okay. Should I watch this one? Or is there another one you wanted me to see?"

"I liked this one fine.  ...I guess it's a little weird what with the rose and the coerced romance, but I found it enjoyable anyway."

Kyeo puts on the Earth 1 version.

The pacing in this one is much less strange!

Zane lounges an arm over the back of the couch, but, you know, over it.  Not ending up very near Kyeo.

That is nothing to be concerned about and so instead of being concerned about it Kyeo will take something out of his pocket and put it under his tongue.

Zane observes this somewhat quizzically, but when Kyeo doesn't seem inclined to elaborate he turns back to watch the movie.

Yes, what does happen after the more streamlined intro?

The plot of Beauty and the Beast does!  Belle wants more than this provincial life, her father is inventing the buzzsaw, and Gaston's a jerk!

The language of the film is sufficient to establish that the movie's creators didn't approve of something about Gaston but Kyeo is not actually certain what.

Belle's father gets lost!  He takes shelter in a castle where the furniture talks and has faces and stuff!

This is weird and would not be screened on Ibyabek but it’s, like, watchable.

There's a beast!  All of the furniture people including the bravadacious multitool / utility knife guy are scared of him.

Belle exchanges her freedom for her father's.  The beast tries to get along with her because of the rose curse thing but he does kind of a bad job for kind of a while.

He is really very bad at this yeah. It doesn't seem like the curse is improving him on the axes that got him cursed at all.

Eventually he gets better!  Maybe not better enough faster enough though; Belle's gone to rescue her father and the drama is rising.

The magic mirror that can show you faraway things is sure some kind of way.
