Like that!  It floats sedately over.

"Do you want to get right back into it or do you want to take a break to have the conversation we didn't in the restaurant or something?"

haha what conversation. Time for more hoverboarding.

"Woah, okay," Zane grins.  "Right back at it."

Once Kyeo's suceeded at going in a straight line for a while, Zane suggests adding some wobbles.  His example makes a graceful sine wave.

Kyeo tries to copy this gamely.

He can get a few in before his next fall off the board.  This one's less spinny; he just kind of tips off.

After an hour or so, he can pretty successfully keep the board at a steady jogging sort of pace and take very wide turns to face and then go any direction he wants for several minutes at a time.  He's getting pretty fatigued; despite his general fitness, his feet are sore from clenching and trying to grip onto the board, his arms are tired from holding them out for balance, and in general it uses muscles in somewhat different ways than he's used to.  And that's aside from the falls which sometimes put quite a lot of strain on his arms and wrists.

This is not an important operation nor even training for one. He stops to sit on his board and rest.

"Done for the day, or just for a bit?"

"I'm not sure yet."

"You should have some water."

"That's a good idea. I didn't think to bring any."

"We'd have to ask the wizard for a water bottle, but I think your cabin should have cups and faucets.  If not mine does."

Hmm does it feel easier to walk there or hoverboard.

Hoverboard, as long as he starts braking well before the buildings.  His fine maneuvering is still not really there yet.

He gets back up and sets a course for home. If you want to call it that.

Zane follows, giving him plenty of room.  Until they're off the boards, then he follows Kyeo into his cabin at a normal distance.

Kyeo takes note of hoverboard-relevant personal space norms. It is maybe slightly impolite of Zane to follow Kyeo in but it would not be politer to object so he doesn't. Water?

Zane points him to the cupboard with the glasses, "If it's the same as mine."  (It is.)  They're cut from crystal in a variety of colors.

"Pretty." Water.

"Yeah."

...does Zane not want to get his own water. Kyeo doesn't really feel enough ownership of this cupboardful of cups to think he is importantly in a position to gatekeep them but sure. He will pour Zane some too.

"Thanks.  You're really good at hoverboarding, did you know?  For a beginner."

"Am I? Thank you. It's fun."

"It's possible it's just that you're an adult who has a lot of physical skills in comparison to the - adolescents, who are usually the ones learning this.  But I'm still impressed."

"People don't - put off picking it up, where you're from?"
