He flinches. "You must have been terrified."

"It didn't help that Fëanáro asked me not to tell anybody he was hiding in my guest room. On my lap."

He sighs fondly.

"It was adorable, yes."

"I'm sorry, I'm sure it was also very stressful."

"Yeah, I didn't like the idea of being caught in a royal disagreement. It was okay though."

"Elf kings are not very petty or paranoid. Though I didn't think especially highly of Elu Thingol."

"Haven't met him. I think I've heard the name, somebody in Endorë people would've earwired?"

"Olwë, the King of Alqualondë, is his brother. Fëanáro's family spends a fair bit of time in Alqualondë, one of his half-brothers married Olwë's daughter and they're where the space program is headquartered. Anyway, Elu Thingol is not a bad King but 'petty and paranoid' wouldn't be too unfair."

"But unlikely to execute accidental visitors, probably."

He shudders. "Human kings would do that?"

"Some of them, sure, they'd think I was an assassin or something."

He looks even more confused. But - "oh, and when you die you can't be resurrected" -

"We can if it's not old age or something exotic but it's expensive and assassins going after a king might have something exotic. Wouldn't help that I'm a subtle artist."

"That's not common?"

"Not very."
