"Cool. You make cute kitties. So, do you want me to show you the fun things on this island? There's Orca, he might want to spar with you guys. There's the highrock and the watchtower, which have great views. There's... Um..."

A little of the old predatory glint appears in Tabby's eyes. "I wanna fight the Orca! He sounds tough!"

She laughs. "He's kind of cranky though. Just warning you. Let's go."

They follow along.

Sturgeon's house is apparently the largest one on this island.

There is a loud thump from inside. Shortly after someone yells. "STOP BANGING INTO WALLS YOU CRAZY BROTHER! You keep unshelfing all my books!"

Gren ignores this exchange. "Orca! We have visitors who want to challenge you- your might!"

Tabby and Zeke start growling.

"-Why're you growling?"

"Come in and let's have a look at them, then!"

"So he knows we're tough and scary!"

Gren leads them in. "Hello Orca. This is Tabby and Zeke, they say they're stronger and faster than humans."

"Ah, but have you two mastered the art of fighting?"

"Yup!" They lunge at him.

He shoves them both back with two swift swipes of his big stick. "STOP! While surprise and teamwork is a valid tactic, a fair and honest spar is required to fully judge you! I ask you to respect the ancient forms!"

"What are those?"

"We use the same weapon. We fight one-on-one. We bow before beginning. We stop upon either party forfeiting, at first blood, or at any other significant injury."

"Seems fair. Though weapons are lame."

Orca throws a medium-ish stick at her and changes his own for one the matches it in size. "Are you ready, young one?"

"Uh, I guess."

He bows and waits for her to do the same.

Gren walks to a corner to stay out of the way.

She bows. 

And he advances in a low stance with the stick.

Sweeping leg strike, followed by bringing it back in the other direction toward her middle.

She manages to dodge!

The spar continues.

He's really fast and pretty strong for such an old human. But more than that, he's tricky when he fights. Feints and positioning and taking advantage of balance. It'll be hard for Tabitha to actually beat him.

He wears her down quite effectively.

When it's pretty clear she's defeated, he stops and bows again. "That was a good fight! You are very powerful and not unpracticed, but you lack some of the finer skills of a warrior. Let me show you a few things, please."
