"Sure." Haru can find a Thai place with the magic of the Internet. "You want to walk rather than drive?"

"I dunno, how far is it?  Julien got kind of exerted walking from the clinic.  I dunno how much of the feeling generally physically bad is directly because of the awakening versus because we're recovering from all the dehydration and sleep dep and stuff."

"...I'm not sure either, I just ask because my truck is in my garage."

"Well, if it's farther than the clinic I definitely want to ride, and if it's like two-thirds of the distance I also do, and if it's shorter than that I don't think I really care."

"Looks like it's close to the same distance. You don't mind entering the garage? Or I guess I could pull the truck out and meet you outside."

"I am capable of entering the garage."

"Huh. Okay."

Haru's pickup truck may have been bought secondhand. It's black and dinged and not very shiny and it's an old-style kind with two seats and a flatbed, not a "pickup truck"-themed SUV. It's got all manner of straps and whatnot in the back for securing cargo but it's mostly empty at the moment. He hops into the driver's seat.

The garage also contains an empty space for, presumably, Ren's car; and a normal complement of yard-related equipment; and lockers with fingerprint locks.

Bug is so normal about this.  Passenger seat.  Seatbelt.

Good for Bug! Garage door opens, phone goes in the navigational doodad holder suction-cup thingamabob, truck pulls out into the city.

He gradually tenses up with the strategy of preventing startles that might distract Haru.  If it works at all it's not enough to prevent a few of them.

Haru is a sedate and law-abiding driver and his occasionally glancing at Bug does not bring them to any harm.

He parks by the Thai place and they can go in and get Thai food. Haru's getting pad khi mao.

Mm, pad se ew with tofu.  And, why not, a cucumber soda.

Cucumber soda sounds interesting, Haru will also get one.

What if they were hand holding with both sets.  Until the food arrives.

Bug makes guesses about what particular misfortunes will befall which characters, but is presumably not as good at it as he would be with access to the foreshadowing and details available in the full text.  It's enrichment, though.  In his enclosure.  (Or terrarium.)  When the food arrives he's pretty casual about dehandholding.

That is normal Bug behavior which does not alarm Haru. Food! He's not hugely into the cucumber soda and gets a water too.

Bug likes it!  If Haru doesn't want his, Bug'll take it.  Even though it probably won't be even a little bit guideful by the time Bug finishes his.

Bug is welcome to the surplus soda, but, yeah, if there's backwash it's not useful after a minute.

Bug makes it through most of the meal with barely any flinches and no particularly violent ones.  "Should I save room for ice cream?" he asks, with a bit of pad se ew left.

"Only if you want to eat ice cream."

"I want to eat ice cream, but if I'll be having it at your house I can wait till I've digested some, whereas if you also want ice cream I should not finish this and we can have it out and about!"

"I could go for some ice cream."

The Bug will get a box and - follow whatever Haru's vibe seems to be regarding the check?

Haru is going to buy lunch if Bug isn't going to try to stop him.
