It's kind of cute the way Julien is worried about offending Bug in a way that can be fixed with polite phrasing when Bug has access to all of his thoughts.  But he's right that there's something to putting in the effort.

"Julien wants me to change my name," he informs Haru after getting his attention.

"Is that in the letter? He wanted me to make sure you read the letter."

"Yeah.  He doesn't actually think he has a right to ask it of me, but he wants me to anyway."

"Are you gonna?"

"I don't know.  On the one hand it is kind of insulting and hurtful to him, and at this stage I no longer actually want to do that, but also... I like it.  I think it's a good, me-ful name."

"If it were me I might go for something... name-ier... that still referred to bugs in some way, like I'd dig around in Latin names for bugs till I found something with a good sound, or something. But you're not me," Haru shrugs. However have you considered that it would be super weird to cry out "Bug" in the throes of guiding not being weird about it.

"I was thinking about 'Beetle' but that seems worse.  For me.  And I'm not sure Latin is my vibe either."  Hmm.  "I guess I'll either have time to think about it later or it won't matter because I won't be around.  Julien is welcome to think about it in a way where bugs, lowercase, are a cool thing that he likes, and not in a way where I'm meaning to insult him.  I say out loud because it's fine if you know it and I think it'll stick in his memory better that way."

"What are other things I want to do today...."  For his bucket list.  "I guess obsessively check the shipping tracker on the harnesses and make sure those are going to come in at a reasonable time, and if it looks like they aren't, come up with an actual plan for switching in advance of needing to do it.  Julien got to go on a field trip and I want to, too.  Maybe to a grocery store or out for ice cream?  Do you actively want to watch Annihilation; we could do that."

"I wouldn't claim to actively want to watch Annihilation, no, but we can go out for ice cream after lunch maybe - I don't think any grocery shopping needs doing today since - your? - mom is bringing dinner."

"If we were doing informal French with each other it might be harder for you to pick whether to pluralize, but I would say that yes, she's definitely also my mom.  It's not like I have a different, separate mom hiding somewhere."

"Some people simply do not have a mom at all! Like Cricket."

"Yeah, but given that the connection exists I don't really feel inclined to disavow it.  She's a pretty good mom.  ....Even though, in a way where I will probably still pretend to be Julien for dinner."

"If we discover that I'm still capable of existing next week I will consider telling her."

"Sure. Should we ask Cricket for a recommendation or do you have one in mind?"

"I'll take recs."

"Hey, kittycat, when you did your Shakespeare marathon which was the best one?"

"The 2028 Much Ado. But I am very partial to Much Ado. If you want Romeo and Juliet I like the Luhrmann."

"I don't know what Much Ado is about and might enjoy learning.  Unless that's the one that's Kiss Me, Kate.  ...No, that one's Taming of the Shrew, isn't it."

"Yeah, different play. 2028 Much Ado it is."

Haru can cause this to occur on the TV.

Bug's pretty quiet through this one, too.  He doesn't start out cuddling Haru but he leans in over the course of it.

"I really liked the costumes.  Your TV is nice; I could really see all the details."

"The fancy TV was technically Cricket's birthday present a while back," Cricket has fallen asleep to belly rubs in Haru's lap, "but he mostly watches stuff on his laptop when it's just him."
