"Hi, Lucy! May is terrifically excited about you and it sounds like she's right to be!"

"What an excellent reason to be excited! You're on the news, did you know?"

"Ooh, I did not know, what are they saying about me."

"Most people think you're an esper and the slightly savvier ones think you're a monster - like Cricket -" (Cricket is napping under a heat lamp) "and they're very excited about the cancer thing too, they got a de-cancered kid on TV with her shiny bald head talking about how you're the bestest prettiest angel, it was so cute."

"Aww! Awwwwwwww!" that is so cute oh her gosh.

Ren can find it on her phone to show Lucy!

"I wanna--make that kid a magic stuffed animal or something. That is not an efficient use of power but they're so cute."

"Medical privacy might make that at all tricky, they didn't broadcast her name."

"I could send it care of the hospital or something but you're right and it is in fact a sufficiently inefficient use of power that I will instead get over it. But I am deeply endeared."

"It is very cute."

"It would be nice to clear up what I actually am but as long as people think I'm a monster like Cricket is and not like Cricket was it's not a priority."

"Oh, yeah, I think that's more than clear, monsters with active dungeons don't show up personably and cure cancer."

"And not kidnap anyone at all--man, that'd be fucked up, if a dungeon got clever enough to send a monster to heal a bunch of people and demand other sick people as payment."

"That would be very alarming and weird! They don't have to ask, they can just yoink whoever they want!"

"Yeah, I don't know if the thing I have in my head even works, but in the thing in my head, most of the point is--moral injury, to anyone who takes the deal."

"I don't... think dungeons are very interested in the outcomes of the people they don't take. So a dungeon like that might be aiming for... specifically self-sacrificing people who volunteered to get dungeoned to cure someone else? Which has its own hypothetical implications."

"Dungeons: generally less complicatedly fucked up than that."

"So far. They may get more complicated over time, right now the oldest ones are still less than sixty years old."

"I really want to find out if they're people or not, it affects the available routes for solving them."

"Do you have a way to directly tell?"

"I don't have a way to, like, directly detect minds, yet, but I can sense things-being-wrong-with-people and being a dungeon might count as a thing being wrong. I don't know either way yet."

"I can put myself on the docket for a low-intensity dungeon tomorrow and you can come with me? I usually don't do two days in a row but I'm impatient to find out."

"Ooh! Yes! --And I won't be deadweight no matter what, short-range teleporting has got to be pretty good in a dungeon."
