"It is!"

Lucy attempts to google "academic papers" and discovers JSTOR, which she does not have an account for.

May does, she'll log into it for Lucy.

"Thanks!" Ooh science. Magic science specifically. Important nutrient.

...Not so important that she doesn't put her phone down after a minute to finish her french toast though.

May busses the dishes and disappears into her room.

Lucy considers disappearing into her pocket dimension to mess around with magic, decides that this would make it harder for May to get ahold of her if she needed her, and heads back into the garage without doing any portals about it to mess around with magic there.

May comes into to the garage to do equipment inventory!

Lucy is drawing elaborate circles on the floor in koizumr with her wand.

"- may I take pictures?"

Photo photo photo.

Lucy steps out of her way so she can get unblocked photos of some bits.

"This'll all come off the floor really easy," she crouches down and hooks a finger under one koizumr circle, lifting the whole thing off the floor like a hula hoop married an elaborate gothic cathedral windowframe, "it's objects I'm creating by magic, not pigments I'm scraping onto the cement."

"Crossed my mind to ask but I figured you weren't going to be vandalizing my garage without a great reason. What's this design do, or is it just pretty?"

"Trying to work on resurrection. These're ritual circles; if they were for a ritual I was a hundred percent on then it wouldn't be vandalism even if they were scraped onto your floor 'cause they'd all vanish at the end of the ritual. But this way is unrelatedly convenient because of how my wand works."

"...a scrape would disappear? What, would it - reabsorb all the cement that got scraped out -"

"--No, I mean, pigment that scraped off onto the cement. Because that's how chalk or crayons work, is bits of the stick scraping off. If I made a ritual circle with negative space by cutting into a surface then the entire surface in the ritual area would disappear, that would be a deeply bad thing to do to someone's floor. Especially without asking."

"Aha. If I ever want to redo the kitchen I will know where to go."

"I wouldn't get the whole kitchen floor, fair warning; I have no idea if it would still be helpful."

"Yeah, I don't know either, mostly being facetious. How do you tell if you got a circle that'll work for resurrection?"

"I can't tell for sure without trying it, but there's no point in trying it before I have a circle that might work."

"How can you tell if it might work, then?"

"...I'm not drawing circles at random? Uh, sorry, hang on...okay, what level of explanation are you looking for exactly, like, do you want a general explanation of how I engage with ritual circles or do you want me to try to, like, actually explain what I'm doing in technical detail."

"On the technical-er end but if that'd be tedious I don't mean to impose."

"You're fine, it's just," she taps her temple, "disorganized. So, the ritual thing has been tidily integrated into the magical girl thing, but it still has recognizable pieces from various worlds it draws bits from. So I'm familiar with a lot of different principles for what goes into a ritual circle, and what things mean a ritual will have which effects, but those things map imperfectly to how the version attached to my magical girlness works, and I have a feel for that but a much less detailed one."

"A feel where you have to see it all laid out first?"
