Huh, that's quite a resemblance

Wow, content warning please!

She googles "content warning" and then yeah oops.

She edits her post to contain a content warning for horrible murder on the second link.

how did you even find this
Permalink

Hmmmmm how to respond to that.

Hang on, she knows the correct idiom for this one.

I contain multitudes.

Nobody else has a prompt followup to this.

Yeah fair enough.

She's going to have to explain her situation better to Some Kind Of Media Presence, but meanwhile it's getting late.

She locates May.

"Are you okay with brief portal existence in your house?"

"Does it leave, like, traces of any kind?"

"While I am inside the pocket dimension it 'remembers' the last place it was connected to the real world. So, yyyyes but very temporarily?"

"Okay, very temporarily is fine, in the garage please."

"Sure thing!"

And then she goes into the garage and opens a portal to her pocket dimension and picks a bedroom more or less at random and flops into bed and goes to sleep.

She remains unburgled for the duration.

She did also close the portal behind her so she would HOPE so.

She wakes up in the morning, gazes blankly at the ceiling for a little while while contemplating finding a book to stick her nose into so she can pretend she's not currently in a version of reality where her loved ones are all dead and people accessible to her have no context for her powers, then hauls herself to her feet, deactivates and reactivates to unmuss her hair and dress and so on, and then portals back into the Swans' garage.

Nobody else is in the garage at the moment. The door to let herself into the house is unlocked.

Well yes she also lets herself into the rest of the house. It's actually mildly inconvenient that she doesn't know enough about the Swans' culinary preferences to grab an appropriate gift from the castle larders, she has a vague intuition that those are pretty diverse, and presents are good, and May is neat and also orienting Lucy to (the modern version of) this world.

Cricket is curled up on the windowsill with a blockbuster sword-and-sorcery movie playing on his computer. Nobody else is around right now.

Probably if Cricket is present then May is still home and asleep rather than already up and out of the house? She could ask him but she doesn't want to interrupt his movie. Hm. She is going to tiptoe around the kitchen and see if anything looks like it's been used since last night.

There's plates and cups in the dishwasher, which isn't loaded enough to run yet.

Okay that looks like breakfast has happened. She's going to get on her phone and investigate places where this world's media diverges from witchworld's and catch up on some stuff that doesn't diverge too much that didn't finish until after her point of death.

"What are you creeping around the kitchen for if you're not even going to eat something?"

"--Well, I didn't know if anyone else had eaten yet, and if they hadn't, I was going to make french toast for everyone."

"May went out for coffee but usually doesn't have breakfast at the coffee shop and should be back soon. Ren had to be at work early today for some sort of professional development thing because they have failed to design her job to keep her skills where they want them during her normal work hours."

"Okay, thanks. Do you know if May has any food allergies or anything? And do you also want french toast?"

"She doesn't. I will have a little bit but I am mostly carnivorous.'

That makes sense with how he is a cat. "--Would you like bacon? Bacon goes with french toast anyway."

"A little bit. It is too salty to eat a lot of."
