"We brought a casserole," says Rob.

Kaylee sidles up to Nausicaa and murmurs, "Did you want to jump right in?"

"...Maybe not? I can... Ease them into it?"

Kaylee nods, and relays this to her parents, and the six of them settle down to dinner.  It goes peacefully, at least at first, everyone making the sort of conversation one makes when families meet through their kids.

- And Nausicaa, near the end, eases them into the 'superpowers and demons and vampires oh my' conversation.

...It. Goes.

She won't be getting grounded, or de-fostered, but her foster parents are still debating if they really need to get a hotel room, or if they should call the police, or...

Helena will reluctantly try to convince Nausicaa's parents that calling the police would end worse for the police than anyone else, but that even if they do they should stay in a motel for a few days regardless.

...They're not fully convinced, but, sure.

That's that, then.

The group heads toward the library next lunch.

Nausicaa would like to flop. Just spend the day rolling around, flopping from place to place. Unfortunately this is socially unacceptable, so she parkours to school again and then walks like a normal person who has their life together when in the building.

"Holding up okay?" Kaylee asks.

"Haven't given into the temptation to roll everywhere yet, at least."

"That's something.  You need a hug?"

"Hugs are always appreciated."

Hug.

Hug!

"You're a really good hugger," she says, clinging to Kaylee and rocking a bit.

"Aww, thanks," Kaylee says.  "You're very huggable."

"I try! I'll be sad if all this exercise makes me less huggably squishy."

Kaylee giggles.  "Fingers crossed."

She and Nausicaa convene with Tag outside the library, then head inside.

She's a bit subdued going in - but not as bad as earlier - and she waves to Giles.

"Good afternoon.  Are your parents safe?"

"They were when I left. We're staying in a motel."

"I'm glad to hear it.  You've been making excellent progress in your combat abilities and you were clearly not unskilled to start with; do you feel comfortable going on a scouting mission?"

"Think that'd be a relief right now."

He nods.  "I think it would be prudent to investigate the Sunnydale Memorial Park, just in case.  I can cover for your absence if you would like to leave and make your way there immediately, or convey you there this afternoon."

"- That's tough. Uh, Kaylee, opinion?"

"Hmm.  You might attract more attention if you're lurking around the cemetery in the middle of the day..."
