SHe'd almost looked forward to the nonsexual intimacy stage, when he'd thought he'd be able to do it with Asher.
He does his best to hide how miserable he is.
"I know. But I'm pretty much always going to have fantasies about punching people who hurt you."
He really really wants to kiss Sasha.
But he doesn't.
"I love you... too too?"
"I know you don't. And — you haven't hurt me in a way that lasts.
We'll figure it out."
"You can tell me when I'm being an ass and I'll try to stop. No promises on my ability to understand what I'm doing wrong."
Asher loves her so much and loves kissing her and attempts to express this sentiment as best he can.
Lev has completely failed to notice any of this happening. He is buried behind an increasingly large pile of books.
He waits until Lev closes one book and starts to open another to tap him on the shoulder.
He glances up and processes Raine's existence for the first time. "Raine! What are you doing here?"
"Taking some time to think. Asher convinced me."
She looks happier than Lev's seen her in more than a month.
So she will! Lev is very soft and good and warm and kissable and wow it has been a long time.
Mmmm.
(The longer Raine spends here the more sure she is that going back to her parents would be the worst decision she has ever made in her entire life.)
"You're here!" he says. "Now Marlo and I don't have to go back to camp!"
...they were going to go back for her.
"No," she says, and kisses him again, "no, you don't."
