Quite. While not wholly immune to the charms of charismatic megafauna I don't quite find that a compelling enough reason to find poking animals a good use of my time. 

I'm smart. Having a magical girl power that couldn't be leveraged particularly intelligently would still have been--on average--a hundred times more fortunate than lacking one altogether, but I suspect I would nonetheless have found it somewhat galling.
