Edie was perusing the latest correspondence from her fork. She still should have been paying enough attention to realize that the door didn't go where it ought before it swung shut and she couldn't sense anyone else anymore, but she wasn't.
After opening and closing the door a couple times to make sure she hadn't just been abducted somehow, she looks around.
And off they go. "Thank you for doing this. You are the main reason we can actually help these worlds, you know."
"I was a little annoyed with Tyelcormo for seducing my source of infrastructure. Then I realized that was silly. ...I would say 'then I realized I should just seduce my own' but my crush on you was firmly established by then."
"I'm glad you like me for things other than my usefulness as a willingly portable source of infrastructure."
"How do you know they aren't autonomic and come with the model of tail?"
"Because you have been known to use them deceptively at Governor, that's how."
"Now, the desire to straighten out the entire multiverse into immortal paradises, that bit might be a reflex installed with the wings?"
"That would explain how the rest of us caught it!" Is this shuttle big enough for kissing.
The capital is a pretty big city, for a world at this technology level. They are not the only thing in the airspace. What looks like a pink translucent dragon swoops lazily in the distance; a trio of enormous moths flutter around each other a little below them; things less plausibly airborn than that make their way through the air with no apparent motive force.
Dreamshaping is a pretty neat magic system. Too bad you have to be from here.

Hello random people you will mostly be ignored except oh wait here's a traffic warden telling them to either move their vehicle or dismiss it.
The computer will have to talk back to the traffic warden. "It is not the kind of vehicle you are accustomed to and cannot be dismissed. Where should we move it to?"
