Concentration, by and large, is all that is required if you can do it at all.

So she goes to the door and concentrates and opens it and lets go of it again and staggers back when it opens into what seems to be someone's bedroom.

"Okay, good. Um, I imagine negotiations could take a while but I don't really know how long--Bar, if I'm, like, sleeping in a cot and the cot is blocking the door open, will that fail to work in the way that non-person doorstops typically do?"

It should work as long as, should the cot suddenly disappear and you sleep through this event, you would continue to hold the door open.

"That should work, then." Imliss makes a mental note to arrange everything such that if the door pushes her out of the way she'll end up in Milliways and not the house if it comes down to it.

"Cam what do you say we fix up a world, I feel like it'll be good for my mood."

"I find myself in favor of this plan."

"It's a good plan." She opens the door again.

And into her dead parents' house. It's dusty. 

Through they go. "Is there going to be enough corpus for machine translation?"

"Probably going to be sort of mediocre - how much help can Imliss be on that -"

"Potentially lots except if the Milliways effect interferes."

"What exactly do you want me to do, I'm not completely familiar with machine translation yet."
