Edie was perusing the latest correspondence from her fork. She still should have been paying enough attention to realize that the door didn't go where it ought before it swung shut and she couldn't sense anyone else anymore, but she wasn't.
After opening and closing the door a couple times to make sure she hadn't just been abducted somehow, she looks around.

He does not message his cousin to ask if Findekáno expects he'd get over him if Maitimo committed several mass murders and then was dead for thirty thousand years because if the answer is 'no' he is pretty sure he prefers not to know it.
They go back to discussing pacing and safe empire expansion.
Possibly also distracting: the door bursting open to admit what appears to be a third of the kind of person Edie and Idaia both are, half dragging, half carrying her sister, who appears to be unconscious and bleeding from the skull. She looks around desperately, then dives under a table. At the same time, a soundless voice rings in his head.
Run! Hide! There's a FUCKING SENTINEL right behind me!
And then a giant humanoid figure made of metal stoops through the door, reaching for her.
An exasperated-looking Nechar teleports into the main bar. The Sentinel ceases to Sentinel. He glances at Emily and patches her up. The door slams.
"Welcome to Milliways. It is an extremely magic neutral zone and nothing can hurt you here. Also, there are parallel dimensions and people from other ones can meet and mingle here. Did you just telepathy at me and if so what kind of telepathy, there are several and Cam'll want to leave if yours is 'I straight-up read minds' or something."
"... I can but I don't have to and I'm not? I'm a telepath. A mutant telepath."
"Huh. Okay. Cam's Earth it's 2160 or so - worlds pass at different speeds, it is possible a millenium just passed there, but it was, last we checked - Abaddon's is 2135, Matt's is 2005. Earths are a recurring theme, apparently."
"Did those worlds get overrun by Sentinels or did someone stop them?"
"And you two are..." she looks uncertainly between him and Circle.
"Alternate universe versions of the same person. We've got two of you already, too. No, we do not know how that works or why it happens."
"If you have two of me why were you confused about my telepathy?"
"Alternate universe versions of a person do not have the same magic. Edie is a demon and Idaia is a dreamshaper and neither of them have telepathy."
"Edie grabbed chip osanwë as soon as she heard about it."
"I have no idea what you're talking about. They...have different mutations than I do?"
