Pascale glances at the pigeon. It bobs its head, then hops over to her and spits a wad of what looks like compressed plant matter into her hand. She passes it to Ethan.

"Give him this, it will wake him up faster and help with the headache."

Then she leaves the room.

Ethan does as requested, sneaking glances at the pigeon, as though trying to figure out what it is. 

Aiden wakes up, growling, but quickly subdued by his brother's frantic whispering. 

"Sorry," he grumbles at the pigeon. 

"As you did not succeed, I will forgive the attack on my acolyte this once. Do not let it happen again."

"Yeah, I got it. He's really dead?" 

"Yes."

"Okay. We'll play nice, if you're the new game in town." 

"Thank you," says Ethan, though his relief is mingled with fear. 

Pascale returns.

"On your way then, boys."

They go.

She should probably check in with Scott and Isaac. They might think she's been doing something dangerous.

Yeah, that's next on the list. Are they still at school or does she have to pay a home visit?

Home, unfortunately. 

Ah well. Off visiting she goes.

"Pascale, how was your day?" 

"It was good! So far they've had me in chemistry, math, and biology."

"Which is better?" 

"Hmm... so far I think chemistry has been my favorite. By the way, is Scott home?"

"Yeah, the boys are upstairs. Did you have dinner plans? You're welcome to join us."

"If it's no trouble, I'd love to stay."

"Boys, help us with dinner!"

She starts setting the table.

And here are the boys.

"Pascale, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Scott."

"Anything stupid or illegal?"

"Almost certainly illegal but if it was stupid I like to think it was not irretrievably so. If the alphas give you any more problems, tell me about it because I've asked them not to."

"Glad you're on our side, at least."

"They won't hurt anyone?" 

"Pretty sure they won't, yeah."
