Not really.

He talked a bit about Talia Hale, and Gerard Argent, and when Beacon Hills was actually a safe place to live.

Perhaps her acolyte will be interested. Ellayania relays the information.

"Do you require food? Water?"

"I think I'd rather be killed sooner than later, if you were considering what I would rather.

I won't need either for some time."

"Your preferences matter rather little to me. Were you less carelessly casual about the enemies you provoke, it might be otherwise."

"It was nice to know you, Ellayania, however briefly. Give my regards to your acolyte."

And he awaits-

-his death.

A visitor approaches the domain, and waits at the edge.

"Here to observe?"

"Observe, witness, participate...whatever you'll allow me to do."

"Let's stick with observation. Safest. He's just over here." Pascale leads the way around the edge a little ways, and brushes aside some dirt, revealing a clear pane of thick glass set into the ground. Deucalion is visible below. "Any preferences on method? Fast, slow?"

"Fast enough that he doesn't have time to speak. Slow enough that he realizes what's happening."

A spike of hardened stone lances out from one wall of the cavern, breaking his jaw and most of his teeth. Two more from the ceiling pin his feet to the floor, then his hands are pinioned to his sides. Two pierce his chest from behind, just below the shoulders. One larger one through the gut.

And then one through the skull, top to bottom.

She clenches her fist.

"The rest of his pack?"

"They didn't show tonight. But they also didn't go to attack you when he seemed to think they might have."

"I hope you're not going to let them live."

"My default is that people live. I'll take your opinion under advisement, but it will be a case-by-case determination."

"Maybe the twins. I doubt they killed the girl personally, and they killed one pack between them, not two. The others deserve death. But I'll leave that to you and your goddess. Have a good night, Ms. Yanna."

"You as well, Ms. Blake."

The glass melts back into earth. The unseen cavern beneath refills itself.

Ms. Blake goes home.

She has a class to teach in the morning.

So does Pascale, come to think of it.

What's the substitution of the day?

Biology, apparently.

Applied chemistry, okay. Cells and organelles and ecosystems and whatnot.

Would she like to be accosted after class?

She will be anyway.

Well, in that case, sure.

"The twins are in the school, if you want to have a chat. I'll be leaving early."
