Yeah... What were they - like, beyond just the outline of their actions? 

That's not really something Ellie can speak to. Her main interaction was at wandpoint.

"I mean, excessive violence does sound pretty much like her - no offense to your girlfriend, Fay."

"Not my girlfriend," she mutters, incredibly unconvincingly.

Lily rolls her eyes. 

"Girlfriend?"

"We had one date - which was before the war started."

" - Wait, really? Okay then when exactly is she leaking shit to you, because if she isn't your mysterious source then I will eat my pointy hat. Like I'd kind of just assumed alcohol was involved in this, there's no way she's intentionally spying."

"...She gets chatty when fighting. Usually she moves on to gossip after a bit of flirting. Also, how do you keep figuring things out like this?"

"Raw talent. Obviously." Is that sarcasm in her voice? It's probably sarcasm.

"Lily Evans is not to be underestimated."

Smug smug smug.

"You would be the expert on that!"

"More like the proof, really."

"Could be both."

"A plausible theory."

Tiny smile. 

Still: "But, yes, Bella is my 'mystery source' - but she's also not by any stretch a loyal Death Eater, and she's looked into things for me before... And given she knows I'm using the intelligence she gives me, I don't think it's fair to say she's unintentionally spying, even though I still wouldn't call her a double agent or anything."

"Still, the horcruxes are probably the most sensitive and dangerous information that could get leaked. How's her Occlumency?"

"I'm the one who taught her Occlumency, back when she was still a student here. She can keep me out entirely if she feels like it, and she can also craft false memories to a satisfactory level - by which I mean no one in the British Isles would be able to tell upon formal extended examination, but she would have a chance of getting caught if international experts were brought in. She can evade and break Obliviation to a similarly satisfactory level, and she can bury her core memories and true thoughts deeply enough to at least eventually subvert most forms of invasive mind control. And if she hasn't kept up her training, then I will be very disappointed in her."

"I don't know if she'd hold up against sustained attempts, but most things that would weaken her Occlumantic protections - like prolonged exposure to Dementors, actually - would also make any memories retrieved from her suspect. She'd be more vulnerable to mind control, but Voldemort shouldn't be able to mind control her into telling him things, since the only methods that should actually work would have to suppress or destroy her memories and several key personality traits."

"Voldemort is an incredibly skilled Leglimens, so - it's not without risk, but Bella will be able to stand up to any routine or idle checks, and most more intense checks. If Voldemort goes far enough to break her protections, then he'd already suspect she's betrayed him - and as far as I can tell, she's useful enough to him than even he would probably hesitate until he's certain. He's let murder attempts from her slide before."

"And, honestly, Lily is the only person I'd bet on keeping things totally to herself no matter what."

"As strong an endorsement as I could hope for, I guess."

"I'll be careful, regardless."

"We do need the information regardless. So."

"Initial caution won't hurt - though I'll reach out to her as soon as I can."

"Guess I'll need to figure out something to do in the meantime."
